2016 Kawasaki KX250F Review
2016 Kawasaki KX250F on www.Totalmotorcycle.com
FIRST OUT OF THE GATE. FIRST ON THE PODIUM…
The KX™250F is a winner. Season after season, title after title, the KX250F has established a championship pedigree that has
transformed Motocross amateurs into legends. And as history repeats itself, victory is just a checkered flag away from any ambitious young Motocross rider.
Receiving several upgrades for Model Year 2016, the KX250F motorcycle continues to be a popular choice for amateur riders as well as the professionals – with more riders winning races on a Kawasaki KX250F than any other 250cc four-stroke in its class.
It comes with a host of technology to help the rider succeed, including a Launch Control mode that enhances traction off the line by temporarily retarding ignition to help riders get the holeshot. The system features dual injectors for the Digital Fuel Injection (DFI®), with a downstream injector for smooth response and the upstream injector for hard-hitting power. The rider can be tune the system using one of three supplied DFI couplers. Each creates a different power delivery to suit different tracks. And these can be further tuned with the optional handheld Kawasaki KX FI Calibration Kit that is new for the 2016 Model Year. This device allows users to create engine maps, or use the stored maps, allowing the rider to find the best setting for their favorite tracks.
To exploit the powerful engine, the KX250F motorcycle has a 48mm Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF), which utilizes the left fork tube to carry the damping assembly, with the spring contained in the right tube. This combination allows a balance of precision movement, smooth action and firm damping to deal with small bumps or giant jumps. The design provides easily adjustable preload to tune the front-end feel. Additionally, the KX250F uses an oversized 270mm petal-shape front brake rotor, giving the rider powerful but controllable braking.
As an industry first in the 250 class, the KX250F has two-position, adjustable footpeg brackets that allow the rider to lower the position by 5mm, thereby lowering the center of gravity. It also has a four-way adjustable upper triple clamp with two mounting holes for the 180-degree rotatable handlebar clamps. These offer the rider the choice of four bar positions, including 25mm forward, 15mm forward, standard or 10mm back. The result is the ultimate ergonomic adjustment for riders of many sizes and styles.

Absolutely nobody can exceed the championship legacy of Kawasaki and the KX™ motorcycle. At any level. KX has more combined professional 250 and 450 class SX titles than anyone. At the amateur level, legends like Villopoto, Carmichael, Stewart, Emig, and McGrath all launched their incomprehensible professional careers with support from Team Green™, our amateur Motocross program. The common thread? The KX is The Bike That Builds Champions.
2016 Kawasaki KX250F www.Totalmotorcycle.com Key Features
The Kawasaki KX™ family of motocross bikes is the breeding ground for champions. The proof began in 1974, when the first KX450, KX250 and KX125 were unveiled in the US. Since then, Kawasaki has been a dominant force in the history of supercross and motocross racing. We build the bikes that make champions.
Look no further than four-time supercross champion, Ryan Villopoto who is one of the most successful riders of all time, and is continuing his winning ways on the world stage in the FIM Motocross World Championship. Riding the KX450F, Villopoto is proof that the best way to start a championship run is on a Kawasaki.
Amateur racers who purchase a Kawasaki KX motocross bike gain access to Team Green™ – Kawasaki’s industry-leading support program that has been around since 1981 and has helped many motocross/supercross stars move through the program.
Team Green’s Trackside Support program covers more than 50 local, regional, and national amateur motocross and off-road events across the country, where Kawasaki technicians and race transporters provide emergency parts, technical assistance and racing tips to all Kawasaki riders.

ENGINE
Powering the 2016 KX250F motorcycle to the winner’s circle is a 249cc
liquid-cooled, four-stroke single cylinder engine with DOHC, a four-valve
cylinder head and a five-speed transmission. Borrowed from its factory
predecessor, the heart of the KX250F engine is the high-performance
Bridged-Box Bottom piston. The new header utilizes a resonator to boost
low-end power, while also reducing noise. The Keihin throttle body and
exclusive Dual Fuel Injectors enhance power and throttle response.
SUSPENSION
Firm fork and shock damping settings enhance
high-speed handling, ride stability, and performance
when landing from jumps.
The UNI-TRAK® rear suspension linkage is mounted
underneath the swingarm to allow additional rear
suspension travel while maintaining a low seat height.
More travel means improved suspension action over
a wider range of track conditions.
ERGONOMICS
The slim aluminum chassis is equipped with the same
two-way adjustable footpegs and four-way adjustable
handlebar mounts as the KX450F motorcycle, providing
adjustability to t your size and preferred riding position.
The upper triple clamp has two sets of handlebar
mounting holes that combine with reversible handlebar
clamps to offer four positions with a 35mm range of
adjustment. Adjustable footpeg mounts offer two
positions that enable the rider to lower the footpegs
by 5mm.
OVERSIZE BRAKING ROTORS
The oversized Braking 270mm front brake rotor is part of an
aggressive race package that enables you to dive ahead of the
competition into the corners while maintaining a progressive feel
at the brake lever and superior cooling.
INTERCHANGEABLE DFI® COUPLERS
The 2016 KX™250F has been designed to keep you further ahead
of the competition. It starts with a dual injector setup, featuring a
downstream injector that creates a sharper throttle response and
more low-to mid-range power. The KX250F also features three
interchangeable DFI® couplers for quick and easy trackside tuning
of power delivery so riders can adapt to track conditions and their
preference.
LAUNCH CONTROL
Get the holeshot and go for the win. The KX250F is equipped with
the same factory-spec Launch Control as the champion KX450F. It
can be activated by the push of a button to optimize power delivery
for maximum acceleration and traction off the starting line.
SFF TYPE 2 FORK
The revolutionary Showa Separate Function Fork Type 2 fork (SFF
Type 2) is large in diameter to create sufcient damping force with
less internal pressure. This allows for rmer damping and increases
performance as well as ride comfort. It provides easy suspension
adjustability—including a preload adjuster—at the top of the fork.
This SFF Type 2 fork design separates spring and damping functions
for less weight, reduced friction and better performance.
