2015 Honda CRF250L Review
2015 Honda CRF250L on www.Totalmotorcycle.com
The Best Of Both Worlds…
The CRF250L is an awesome dual-sport machine that adds off-road capability to its on-road prowess. The CRF250L gives you a great upright seating position that’s comfortable for longer rides, perfect for seeing your way through an urban traffic snarl or getting out on the trail. And if your town doesn’t have enough money to fix those potholes or pavement patches, the CRF250L’s long-travel suspension is built to handle them no problem.
Sure, the CRF250L is super practical, offering great fuel economy. But even that’s small potatoes compared to how much fun per gallon you’ll have riding one. The Honda CRF250L just plain makes sense. When are you going to get yours?
*Honda’s fuel economy estimates are based on EPA exhaust emission measurement test procedures and are intended for comparison purposes only. Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you ride, how you maintain your vehicle, weather, road conditions; tire pressure, installation of accessories, cargo, rider and passenger weight, and other factors.
On road or off, it’s all Honda.
One part of you probably likes the CRF250L because you know it’s going to be a blast to ride. But the other part knows it’s also super-practical, thanks to Honda engineering. While some makers might scrimp on the technology when it comes to a 250cc machine, Honda’s designers went all out.
By their very definition, dual-sport bikes are a compromise – part dirt, part street. The often-conflicting requirements of these two applications can be a real challenge for engineers. Too dirt-focused and dual-sport bikes can wear themselves out on the street, too street-focused and they become clumsy off-road. Luckily Honda engineers have extensive experience in both disciplines and a multitude of high tech components to draw on when creating the perfect dual-sport.
More than just a smooth gravel-road runner the CRF250L really shines off-road. Rocks, mud, sand? Tight single track? Bring it on. A long travel inverted fork up front, perfectly matched Pro-link rear suspension, generous ground clearance and slim off-road ergonomics will have even hardcore dirt riders feeling right at home. As capable as the CRF is off-road it won’t suffer when it returns to the pavement either, the counterbalanced single is remarkably smooth even at highway speeds and the under-stressed, liquid-cooled design means it’ll run down that highway all day or all week without worry.
Fuel injection is the icing on the cake helping to ensure easy starts, automatic altitude compensation and exceptional fuel economy.
CRF250L wherever you ride.

•Chassis developed specifically for the CRF250L provides excellent stability and agility.
•Strong 43 mm Showa inverted fork provides 250 mm (9.8 inches) of travel.
•Digital multi-function instrument panel includes a fuel-level gauge and clock.
Packs a punch.
At the heart of our CRF250L lies a fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, complete with an electric starter, counterbalance, and double-overhead cams. So you get smooth, consistent power packing loads of low- and mid-range torque.
Comfort is key.
Out on the trail, you want a bike that allows for upright seating, keeping you ready for whatever lies around the next bend. And you’ll find those same qualities come in handy when riding in traffic. It’s comfortable, neutral, and makes maneuverability a breeze.
Pinches pennies.
Great mileage may not be the number one reason for riding the CRF250L. But when you’re getting up to 77 miles per gallon*, you’re getting more than an added bonus. That’s because great economy is always welcome, whether you’re commuting or riding around on weekends.
2015 Honda CRF250L www.Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
21-inch/18-inch Front and Rear Wheels
A 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel give you a wide selection of tire choices for everything from serious off-road trail riding to smooth on-road touring.
Inverted Fork
An inverted Showa fork features large 43mm sliders. That makes it strong and helps add to the CRF250L’s excellent handling in on or off-road conditions.
Digital Instrumentation
The CRF250L’s digital instrument cluster is integrated with the headlight visor to give you all the information you need: speedometer, clock, twin tripmeter, fuel gauge, and more.
Engine Counterbalancer
Because it features a counterbalancer, the CRF250L engine is a smooth runner. You get the narrow overall width and power advantages of a single along with the smoothness of a multi-cylinder bike.
Single-Cylinder Engine
A single is the perfect choice for a bike like the CRF250L. It’s light, simple, returns excellent fuel economy, and features a broad powerband with plenty of low-revving torque-just what you want in a first motorcycle.
Fuel Injection
Fuel injection means the CRF250L starts right up, even in cold weather. Compared to a carbureted bike, it also helps reduce emissions and enhance performance and fuel economy.
Strong Steel Frame
A sturdy steel frame is strong and designed to survive in the real world of rough pavement or off-road trails.
Comfortable Seating Position
With a long, motocross-style seat, you can move forward and back, left and right with ease, helping you navigate changing terrain in comfort.
Pro-Link Rear Suspension
Thanks to our single-shock Pro-Link rear suspension, the CRF250L delivers excellent comfort, traction and handling, while also improving rider confidence.
Passenger Ready
With its long seat and fold-up frame-mounted passenger footpegs, the CRF250L is fully equipped to carry a passenger so you can share the fun.
Cargo Convenience
Special cargo hooks make it easy to secure a light load to the passenger seat with bungee cords without scratching the bodywork. It’s just another one of the nice touches that help make the CRF250L so versatile. It also has a storage box on the left side for small items you need to keep secure.
Disc Brakes
The CRF250L features front and rear hydraulic discs for excellent stopping power and brake feel, both for on-road and off-road use.
Engine/Drivetrain
Compact and sophisticated liquid-cooled DOHC 249 cc single-cylinder four-stroke powerplant produces smooth and consistent torque at low rpm, plus excellent high-rpm performance..
The engine’s wide spread of power makes the CRF250L easy and confidence-inspiring to ride, while also returning impressive fuel economy..
Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) continuously monitors several variables to ensure the correct fuel mixture for the current riding and atmospheric conditions, thereby delivering optimal performance and remarkably crisp throttle response over a wide range of operating conditions, plus improved fuel economy..
The PGM-FI system incorporates an Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) to smooth responses to small changes in throttle position..
New, extremely compact roller rocker arm design for the low-friction valve train allows the use of a smaller cylinder head..
The crankshaft runs in plain bearings for quieter operation and the big end of the connecting rod spins in a needle bearing, both contributing to the engine’s high-performance credentials..
A gear-driven counterbalance shaft helps quell engine vibration for enhanced rider comfort. It’s located so close to the crankshaft that the balancer weight passes between the two crank weights to keep the engine as compact as possible while improving mass centralization..
