2015 Honda CBR300R Review
2015 Honda CBR300R on www.Totalmotorcycle.com
Honda’s New CBR300R: Light, Nimble, Affordable…
Great for beginners and experienced riders alike, the new CBR300R packs a 300-class engine that delivers a 17-percent boost in peak power compared to the CBR250R. Thanks to a full sport fairing, new dual headlights and new exhaust system, the CBR300R has the look of a serious sport bike. With more power, nimble handling, an affordable price and low operating cost, the CBR300R-also available with optional ABS-makes every ride a fun one.
Check out the new CBR300R—it’s got a wide powerband for plenty of power around town or on the freeway. The CBR300R is narrow, light and flickable, offering excellent fuel economy, a ton of fun and about as user-friendly as a bike can be.
And here’s one of the best parts: the new 2015 CBR300R is a huge bargain. Whether you’re after dependable weekday transportation or a weekend sport machine that’s fun to ride, the new 2015 CBR300R delivers—and then some!
CBR300R – more of what you want and less of what you don’t
The CBR250R introduced many people to the joys of riding smaller supersport machines and its followers are dedicated. Building on the success of the original platform, the CBR300R adds aggressive new styling and increased power and torque throughout the rev range. Retained are the 250’s excellent mass centralization, aggressive geometry and functional ergonomics, but an improved power-to-weight ratio enhances performance across the board. An 8 mm stroke increase gives a roughly 17% increase in power while the light and manageable weight ensures riders can take full advantage of the increased performance. The single cylinder engine design also has a number of advantages over twin cylinder competitors. Not only does the advanced engine reduce overall weight and size, improving manoeuvrability, but it simplifies maintenance, improves fuel economy due to reduced drag and lowers operating cost. Wrapped around the revised engine is all-new bodywork that takes its styling cues directly from the razor sharp CBR1000RR. The CBR300R now looks every bit as aggressive as its larger siblings and the family resemblance is well earned.
Light. Narrow. Low.
Because it’s a single-cylinder machine, the CBR300R is narrow, with a low 30.7-inch seat height and light 357-pound curb weight. Plus, we’ll be offering a Honda Genuine Accessory seat that lowers the seat height even further!
The Power of One.
The CBR300R uses a single-cylinder engine with fuel injection, double-overhead cams and a counterbalancer. Sure that’s tech talk, but the architecture offers some very real advantages, perhaps the most important of which is power delivery: a single offers the kind of torque and midrange power that’s well suited for all levels of riders.
Stop With Confidence.
Honda’s Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is standard on the CBR300R ABS model. It provides added confidence under less than ideal conditions.

2015 Honda CBR300R Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
Analog/Digital Instrumentation
The CBR300R’s digital gauges with analog tachometer provide vital riding information in a styled, hi-tech instrumentation package featuring digital speedometer, fuel gauge, coolant temp, tripmeter/odometer and clock.
Supersport Styling
The CBR300R features full-cowl Supersport styling and dual headlights, increasing aero efficiency and carrying the styling cues from our CBR-RR series.
Disc Brakes
The CBR300R features a 296mm front and 220mm rear hydraulic disc for excellent stopping power and brake feel.
Fuel Injection
Fuel injection means the CBR300R starts right up, even in cold weather. Compared to a carbureted bike, it also helps reduce emissions and enhance performance and fuel efficiency.
Single-Cylinder Engine
A single is the perfect choice for a bike like the CBR300R. It’s light, simple, provides excellent fuel efficiency and features a broad powerband with plenty of low-revving torque—just what you want in your first motorcycle, but geared for comfortable cruising at highway speeds.
Counterbalance Shaft
Because it features a counterbalancer, the CBR300R engine is a smooth runner. You get the narrow overall width and power advantages of a single along with the smoothness of a multi-cylinder bike.
Pro-Link® Rear Suspension
The CBR300R uses a single-shock preload-adjustable rear suspension that not only gives you a smooth ride but helps enhance handling as well, like some of our larger sport models.
Narrow Seat & Low Seat Height
A low 30.7-inch seat height does more than help make sure the CBR300R fits a wide range of riders. It makes it easier to put your feet down at stoplights and in parking lots—a big confidence builder. Plus, we’ll offer a Honda Genuine Accessory seat that’ll lower seat height even further!
Anti-Lock Braking System
Our ABS—available on the CBR300R—provides added confidence under less-than-ideal conditions, like on wet pavement or when there’s sand or other debris on the road.
Under-Seat Storage
Removing the rear passenger seat provides a lockable area to throw a map, gloves or a spare set of sunglasses.
Passenger Ready
A separate passenger seat, integrated grab rail and standard passenger footpegs mean you can take a friend along when you go riding—another example of the CBR300R’s versatility.
Engine/Drivetrain
The 286 cc single-cylinder engine is purpose-built for the CBR300R, and boasts high-performance features such as dual overhead camshafts driven by a Hy-Vo-type silent chain, forked roller rocker arms, a compact four-valve cylinder head, a counterbalance shaft, and liquid cooling..
The light and compact engine contributes to the CBR300R’s nimble steering, intuitive handling and impressive power-to-weight ratio, allowing it to compete with twin-cylinder bikes of similar displacement..
Shim-style valve adjustment allows easy inspection and maintenance, although with a recommended inspection interval of 48,000 km, you’ll ride a long, long time between any needed adjustments..
The engine countershaft sits lower than the mainshaft in a “stacked” formation to reduce the engine’s front-to-rear dimensions..
The engine produces a remarkably broad torque curve for strong low-rpm performance, and peak horsepower kicks in at 8,500 rpm—well below redline. This wide spread of power makes the CBR300R easy and confidence-inspiring to ride, in both stop-and-go situations and on the highway, while also returning impressive fuel economy..
The crankshaft runs in plain bearings for quieter operation and the big end of the connecting rod spins in a needle bearing, both contributing to the engine’s high-performance credentials..
A gear-driven counterbalance shaft helps quell engine vibration for enhanced rider comfort. It’s located so close to the crankshaft that the balancer weight passes between the two crank weights to keep the engine as compact as possible while improving mass centralization. The counterbalance shaft has been updated for 2015 to compensate for the increase in displacement..
Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) continuously monitors several variables to ensure the correct fuel mixture for the current riding and atmospheric conditions. The system delivers optimal performance and remarkably crisp throttle response over a wide range of operating conditions, plus improved fuel economy. The PGM-FI system incorporates an Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) to smooth responses to small changes in throttle position..
The PGM-FI fuel injection – with 38mm throttle bore has been remapped for the larger engine while maintaining a focus on crisp throttle response across the rev range..
The six-speed transmission works in concert with the engine’s broad power delivery to produce quick acceleration plus excellent fuel economy during highway cruising. Final drive gearing is also taller for 2015 to further improve efficiency at highway speeds..
New CBR500R-type exhaust is an aesthetic and functional upgrade..
Chassis/Suspension
Diamond-shaped twin-spar steel frame plus a 37 mm front fork and Pro-Link single-shock rear suspension provide impressive handling and a comfortable ride..
Curb weight of only 161.9 kg (357 lb) gives the CBR300R outstanding maneuverability and helps instill rider confidence..
Sporty ergonomics promote a balanced seating position for optimum control and long-distance comfort..
Full-sized 17-inch cast wheels with a 110/70 – 17 front tire and a 140/70 – 17 rear tire provide big-bike feel, grip and handling traits..
All-new CBR1000RR inspired bodywork features dual headlights and colour matched undercowl. The unmistakably CBR fuel tank and steeply raked tail complete the aggressive look..
