Innovation
All versions of the 2025 TRACER 9 feature a cornering headlight system and, in a world first, Yamaha brings sophisticated adaptive Matrix LED headlight technology to motorcycling on the TRACER 9 GT and TRACER 9 GT+ models. With a matrix of low and high beam LEDs linked to an integrated camera, this technology detects traffic, natural light, and weather to automatically adjust brightness and light spread for optimal illumination. The system increases rider confidence while riding at night, distributing the light in such a way that it tries to ensure other road users are not dazzled, while adjusting the illuminated area for the rider.

Versatility
Standard on the TRACER 9 GT+ and available alongside a manual gearbox on the TRACER 9 and TRACER 9 GT, Yamaha’s Y-AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) delivers a new riding experience with a choice of fully automatic shifting or manual, finger-operated shifts using an electronically controlled auto clutch. The Y-AMT’s manual mode lets riders shift by hand alone, allowing riders to concentrate fully on throttle control, braking, lean angle, and grip—intensifying the riding experience, especially through corners.

Connectivity
All 2025 TRACER 9 models feature an advanced 7” TFT dashboard, while GT and GT+ models come with full smartphone connectivity. To enhance the ride, the TRACER 9 includes a storage area on the right side of the fuel tank with a USB charging port, so riders can keep devices charged on the go Riders can link their smartphone to the machine using Yamaha’s free MyRide app.

The connection can be made via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth®, and once connected the rider can view information on incoming calls, emails and messages, while both riders and passengers can also listen to music and respond to calls with a Bluetooth®-connected headset (not supplied).

The smartphone integrates seamlessly with the TRACER 9’s display and switchgear. The rider can view the menus and control the device functions through the newly designed controls on the left handlebar cube. Additionally, when connected to the motorcycle, riders are able to personalise the custom modes of the Yamaha Ride Control, setting their preferred power delivery, engine braking and intervention levels of the TRACER 9’s numerous electronic rider aids.

2025 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ Y-AMT Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

ENGINE

  • Powerful 890cc Liquid-Cooled Three-Cylinder DOHC Fuel-Injected Engine
    • The Tracer 9 features the world-renowned crossplane crankshaft 890cc CP3 engine. With a bore × stroke of 78 mm × 62.1 mm and an 11.5:1 compression ratio, it provides the type of broad, linear torque and thrilling power delivery character that’s perfect for Sport Touring
  • Lightweight Forged Pistons
    • Superior quality lightweight forged pistons allow for smooth, high-revving power.
  • Offset & Direct-Plated Cylinders
    • The CP3 engine mounts its three cylinder bores forward, towards the exhaust side. This offset reduces the piston to cylinder wall friction, creating more power and improved fuel economy while the direct-plated ceramic-composite cylinder bores provide excellent heat dissipation and reduced friction.
  • Assist & Slipper Clutch
    • The Tracer 9 features an Assist and Slipper (A&S) clutch for a lighter clutch lever pull and smoother chassis behavior during downshifts.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION

  • Lightweight CF aluminum die-cast frame
    • To achieve both sporty performance and excellent riding comfort, the Tracer 9 adopts a lightweight aluminum frame with model-specific tuning. Using Yamaha’s exclusive Controlled Filling (CF) aluminum die-casting technology, this frame features the thinnest sections ever on a Yamaha die-cast frame.
  • Lightweight SpinForged wheels
    • The lightest design ever fitted to a production Yamaha –  the SpinForged wheels on the Tracer 9 reduce unsprung weight for superior suspension feel and performance. These ultra-light wheels also contribute towards the Tracer 9’s exceptional fuel efficiency.
  • Adjustable ergonomics
    • The Tracer 9’s ergonomics can be easily adjusted to suit different physiques and riding styles. Changes to the ergonomics can be made by adjusting the footrests by 15 mm up or down, and the handlebar position can also be moved forwards by 9 mm and upwards by 4 mm by reversing the direction of the handlebar clamps, giving a total of eight different riding positions.
  • 2-position adjustable seat
    • The Tracer 9’s handlebar/footrest/seat layout has been carefully developed to give a sporty yet comfortable riding position that gives you controllability with comfort. A two-position seat enables tool-free height adjustment, enabling you to customize the ergonomics to match your riding style and physique.

DETAILS

6-Axis IMU plus lean-sensitive rider aids
The Tracer 9 is equipped with some of the most advanced electronic rider aids in the class, giving you added confidence and precise controllability in different weather and road surface conditions. Developed from the R1M, the compact 6-axis IMU governs a lean-sensitive, three-mode Traction Control System (TCS), as well as a Slide Control System (SCS), front wheel LIFt Control System (LIF) and Brake Control system (BC).

Hard side cases
hard side cases with matching colour panels are fitted as standard equipment (each case can accommodate a full-face helmet). For a natural riding feeling, the cases are mounted to a fully floating carrier system. An optional top case can also be fitted.

LED cornering lights
Next-generation LED cornering lights highlight the apex of every bend to help guide you in the darkest nights. Brightness is automatically increased as the banking angle gets steeper, giving a clear field of vision that allows for sporty riding long into the night. The system operates when the bike is leaned at more than 7 degrees at 5 km/h and above.

Full LED lighting
Compact LED lighting is featured throughout the Tracer 9. Separate high/low mono-focus headlights give the bike a dynamic new look and provide superior illumination in any situation. LED flashers reinforce the bike’s premium status, and a signature taillight enhances the bike’s agile looks and sporty feel.

Heated grips
Fully integrated 10-level heated grips are fully controllable by the handlebar scroll wheel and monitored by the TFT meter. Specially shaped grips feature thinner rubber that allows efficient transmission of the heat for all-weather riding comfort.

All-new Matrix LED headlight
In a world first in the motorcycle sector, the adaptive Matrix LED headlight provides illumination like never before. Linked to a camera built into the fairing, the system detects surrounding traffic conditions and automatically controls individual LEDs within the matrix to deliver a shaped beam of light to maintain optimal illumination.

A new era of shifting with Y-AMT
Experience a new way of riding with the choice of fully automatic (AT) or manual (MT) shifting via a finger-operated see-saw switch. Invigorating when you want, easy when you need, Y-AMT works in perfect harmony with the cutting-edge Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) electronic features to elevate the riding experience and deliver the perfect engine and transmission characteristics to suit the riding conditions and their own personal preferences.

Radar equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection
Working in conjunction with the Y-AMT and KADS suspension, the radar controlled cruise control reduces fatigue by maintaining the correct speed gear and distance to vehicle in front when active. Radar also facilitates blind spot detection, which flashes a warning in the mirror when vehicle is detected in the rider’s blind spot.

7″ TFT dashboard with fully integrated Garmin navigation
The 7″ TFT incorporates three themes and comes with Garmin Motorize connectivity to provide integrated navigation, while calls, messages and music can be received through the Yamaha MyRide App and controlled using the five-way joystick on the left hand switch cube. A dedicated integrated storage includes a USB-A outlet for charging on the go.

Adjustable semi-active electronic suspension
The KYB’s KADS (KYB Actimatic Damper System) electronic suspension is the most advanced system found on any Yamaha production motorcycle. Governed by the six-axis IMU and ECU, the adjustable units are linked to the YRC mode and dynamically adjust damping to deliver an optimal riding experience in a variety of load and road conditions.

Intelligent braking system with Vehicle Hold Control
The TRACER 9 GT+’s Unified Brake System incorporates a hydraulic unit to automatically distribute braking force to both wheels, adjusting the brake bias to optimise stopping power and controllability of the machine. In conjunction, the Vehicle Hold Control intuitively applies rear brake pressure when stopped, to allow seamless take-offs when on an incline or slope.

Electrically adjustable windscreen
The TRACER 9 GT+ delivers improved wind protection thanks to a redesigned front fairing and windscreen. The new wind tunnel developed arrangement reduces buffeting to ensure both rider and pillion arrive at their destination fresher than ever, while the electronically controlled windscreen now offers 100mm of stepless adjustment to allow the rider to fine tune the aerodynamics to meet their own specific preferences.

Smart key technology with central locking
Yamaha’s Smart Key System allows you to fire up the TRACER 9 GT+ without a physical ignition key. The key fob operates while in proximity of the bike and allows the central locking and unlocking of all functions, including the steering lock, fuel cap and the standard hard side cases, which remain secure whenever the smart key is out of range. When fitted, Yamaha’s genuine accessory top box also operates in the same way.

Low maintenance endurance chain
The TRACER 9 GT+ features a low maintenance drive chain made by DID (Daido Kogyo). The endurance chain features rollers treated with a Diamond-like-coating, which increases both performance and durability. The chain stretches less, meaning less adjustment is needed and a longer service life is expected, while friction is also reduced – which the rider will notice while pushing the bike.

Customisable ride modes
TRACER 9 GT+ offers a highly customizable riding experience thanks to Yamaha Ride Control (YRC). This allows the rider to tailor their ride to match conditions and preferences. Three factory settings come preloaded (SPORT, STREET and RAIN) while two custom maps can be programmed through the dashboard menu or using the MyRide app, helping the rider choose their preferred engine power characteristics and electronic interventions.

Tyre pressure monitoring system
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is standard fitment on the TRACER 9 GT+. The system utilises sensors in both the front and rear wheels, which monitor the air pressure and send real-time readouts to the TFT dashboard, allowing the rider to monitor tyre pressures on the go and warning in case of pressure loss.

10 setting heated handlebar grips
The TRACER 9 GT+ features integrated heated handlebar grips, which offer 10 levels of warmth and the ability to be easily user programmed to three preset settings. These grips are optimized to deliver quick warmup and a uniform distribution of heat and can work in conjunction with the heated rider seat, which is available as a genuine Yamaha accessory.
