2025 Honda NT1100 DCT: SMOOTH GEAR CHANGES AT ALL SPEEDS.
Introducing the 2025 Honda NT1100 DCT…
In a motorcycling landscape with a strong adventure-bike representation, the last decade has seen a limited number of choices available for riders looking for performance, handling, long-range comfort and technology, but not necessarily the image or physical dimensions of “ADV.”
The NT1100 is a straightforward sport-touring machine, with a full feature list and a sporty edge to its performance—the sort of bike that deals with the weekday commute efficiently and is also ready for an extended tour, fully loaded. Designed to draw those with a memory of similar Honda machines from the past, but also to attract a much younger rider, it employs the frame and parallel-twin engine of the Africa Twin as a base, ensuring characterful, engaging performance, and it packs in features and technology that broaden any motorcycle’s appeal.
With the heart and muscle of an Africa Twin adventure bike, the agile reflexes of a sportbike, and the easy-going demeanour of a touring bike, the Honda NT1100 opens up nearly endless opportunities for motorcycling fun. Weekdays, its nimble handling and comfortable seat height make it perfect for commutes in the city. Weekends, its relaxed riding position and luggage options make it ideal for riding to the horizon and back. Weather iffy? The NT1100 has you covered, thanks to a sleek but protective fairing with adjustable windshield, plus heated handgrips. For sport-touring enthusiasts, there’s no better way to enjoy two-wheel freedom than in the saddle of an NT1100.
The perfect travel companion
It’s the detail upgrades that make the new NT1100 such a perfect long-term travelling companion and all have been driven by the people that matter – NT1100 owners. The new dynamic front fairing wraps the rider in elegant high-speed aerodynamic efficiency, increasing wind protection and reducing fatigue. It’s also now possible to adjust the 5-level screen while seated (and stationary) with one hand. Both pannier lids are deeper so there’s more room in each, enough for a full-face helmet. And the front mudguard now extends an extra 150mm to the rear, acting as a splashguard to channel water away. The large 20L Fuel Tank delivers the freedom of long-range riding, with a potential 400km between fill-ups possible.
Performance for all occasions
When you need torque, you need torque. Especially overtaking carrying a pillion and luggage. So, the 1,084cc OHC twin-cylinder engine has 7% more torque, off the bottom and right through the middle. More mid-range power, too thanks to a higher 10.5:1 compression ratio, new crankshaft and conrods. Throttle By Wire (TBW) response has been optimised for linearity, giving smoother response to match the performance boost. The difference in acceleration, through the gears, is immediately obvious. The twin-cylinder engine is efficient too, you can cover up to 20km per litre of fuel. And the exhaust note beats out a refreshed, pulsing rhythm – the perfect backdrop to a long ride.
Updated electronics for improved handling
At the very heart of the NT1100’s superlative handling abilities is a six-axis IMU tucked away at the centre of the machine that measures – in real-time – exactly what the bike is doing, as it’s doing it. This means that the 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) offers newly refined rear wheel traction management as well as Wheelie Control. And, for an extra layer of riding confidence, Cornering ABS is a new addition to the electronic package. The IMU takes in lean angle, deceleration and slip rate of the front and rear wheels to manage braking pressure through the ABS. The 238kg kerb weight also makes for easy low-speed handling, and sporty feel at speed.
Increased safety with advanced rider aids
It pays to be seen, on so many levels. Of course, style matters and new dual LED projector headlights – with high/low ‘hidden eye’ design – certainly make a fearless statement that gets noticed. Sophisticated Daytime Running Lights (DRL), now with built in indicators, mark out road position highly visibly to all others ahead while self-cancelling Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) technology operates the rear indicators, alerting road users behind to a hard stop situation. And, to keep you connected while riding, the 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Introduced for 2022 model year, the NT1100 offers a timeless combination of desirable performance, engaging handling and long-range comfort, with a raft of the latest technologies and a sleek take on classical tourer style. This combination has proved immensely popular across Europe, gaining the NT1100 the number one spot in the touring category back in 2023.
Note: This model is now nearly DOUBLE THE PRICE in Canada vs the USA (Verified)

2025 Honda NT1100 DCT Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
DESIGN / STYLING
The NT1100 DCT was designed as a sporting, agile bike that’s also enjoyable to ride all day, with efficient, protective aerodynamics and comfortable ergonomics, all centered around practicality, as well as rider and passenger comfort.
The premium specification is rounded out by self-canceling turn signals and standard 12V and USB auxiliary sockets. A center stand is standard.
Fairing
This motorcycle’s form is also about function, with the aim of elevating the quality of the riding experience. The solid, three-dimensional upper fairing (partially constructed from biodegradable Durabio) has aggressive, tightly wrapped angles to both sides and “face,” matched by a svelte tail section.
The rider can raise or lower the windscreen with one hand while seated on the bike. It offers five-stage adjustment for height and angle, through a total of 6.5 inches between the high and low positions. Set low, it sends air around the shoulders; set high it moves air over the rider’s helmet.
For protection from mud and water, the fender has a splash-guard extension covering the rear of the tire. The rider integrates into the machine neatly, enveloped by the protective fairing. The exhaust muffler is positioned low, to maximize pannier volume.
Lighting
The twin headlights comprise LED projectors, which incorporate subtle, integrated turn signals. Contrasting high/low beams express an intriguing “hidden eye.” All other lighting is LED as well.
Cockpit
A wide, thick seat, with optimized cushion density for comfort, offers a luxurious expanse for two. Seat height is 32.3 inches, and a large grabrail for the passenger extends from the rear rack. Standard upper and lower deflectors provide wind and weather protection around the rider’s arms and lower body.
Bright and easy to read, the 6.5-inch TFT touch screen offers three choices of screen display; GOLD shows all numeric and mode information. SILVER centers on the speedometer and odometer, BRONZE on the odometer. The background color can be set to black or white. Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and Bluetooth connectivity allows access to smartphone functions via the TFT display.
ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN
The NT1100 DCT’s 1,084cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine is derived from that of the Africa Twin.
Aluminum cylinder sleeves keep weight low, while the 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval create the engine’s signature “throb.”
The crankcases are split horizontally; the water pump is housed efficiently within the clutch casing, with a thermostat integrated into the cylinder head. The water and oil pumps are both driven by the engine’s balancer shafts.
At the bottom end is a semi-dry sump, with in-tank lower-crankcase oil storage. This allows a lower pan depth, to keep overall engine height low. As the pressure-fed pump is located within the tank, from whence it delivers its oil, there is no need for a pressure-feed passage. Secondary vibrations are neutralized by the mutually reciprocating motion of the pistons, while primary inertial and coupling vibrations are canceled by use of biaxial balance shafts.
A crank pulsar—with relator teeth spaced at 10° intervals—manages misfire detection. An additional O2 sensor, positioned at the rear of the converter, gives more accurate emissions-measurement readouts. A high-quality Skyrich HJ13L lithium-ion battery minimizes weight and contributes to mass centralization.
Intake
Throttle-by-wire provides engine management, and PGM-FI feeds the throttle bodies. Throttle control is optimized for a linear power delivery.
The airbox has 33mm intake ducts, and 46mm throttle bodies feed the inlet ports. The bore and cylinder pitches are aligned to create a smooth air-intake profile. The injector angles deliver a direct spray into the twin-spark combustion chambers.
Valvetrain
Honda’s single-overhead-cam Unicam valvetrain, and the low-set position of the cast camshaft contribute to the compact nature of the cylinder head and entire engine package. Inlet valves are 36.5mm in diameter and have 10.1mm of lift; exhaust valves are 31.0mm in diameter and have 9.3mm of lift.
Transmission
In the world of powersports, Honda first offered a dual-clutch transmission on the 2009 FourTrax Rancher multipurpose ATV, followed by the 2010 VFR1200F sport-touring motorcycle. Since then, the technology has been offered on Honda touring machines, cruisers, ATVs and side-by-sides. While similar systems can be found in high-performance sports cars, Honda pioneered the use of DCT in the powersports world and has accumulated experience and improved the technology along the way. For the NT1100’s introduction to the U.S. market, Honda is offering it with DCT technology.
DCT delivers consistent, rapid, seamless gear changes, and very quickly becomes second nature to use. It utilizes two clutches—one for startup and first, third and fifth gears, the other for second, fourth and sixth gears, with the main shaft for one clutch located inside that of the other. Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. For a gear change to occur, the system pre-selects the target gear through the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as the second clutch simultaneously engages. As the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption to rear-wheel drive, gear-change shock and pitching of the machine are minimized, resulting in shifts that are not only smooth, but direct. The extra benefits of durability (as the gears are less likely to be damaged by missing a shift), low-stress urban riding and reduced rider fatigue add to the appeal of DCT.
On the NT1100 platform, Honda’s advanced automatic DCT technology benefits from the IMU, which allows cornering detection for optimized shift timing.
With DCT on the NT1100, three modes of gear-change operation are available:
- AT D (“Drive”): An automatic setting that is ideal for daily city and highway riding, when comfort and optimum fuel efficiency are prioritized.
- AT S (“Sport”): An automatic setting that is suited for sportier riding, as the ECU lets the engine rev a little higher before shifting up, and shifts down sooner when decelerating, for extra engine braking. There are three memorize-able sub-settings within S mode, from the more “torquey,” moderately sporty Level 1, to the sportiest Level 3.
- MT (“Manual”): A setting that gives full manual control, allowing the rider to change gears via handlebar triggers.
In the two automatic modes, immediate manual intervention is possible; the rider simply selects the required gear using the up and down shift triggers on the left side of the handlebar. After an appropriate interval (depending on throttle angle, vehicle speed and gear position), the DCT seamlessly reverts to automatic mode.
Further functionality for the DCT system comes in the form of incline detection, adapting the gear-shift pattern depending on the grade of an uphill.
TECHNOLOGIES
At the heart of the NT1100 DCT’s excellent handling performance are throttle-by-wire management and a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), tucked away at the center of the machine, making real-time measurements of roll angle/rate, pitch angle/rate and yaw angle/rate. It works through the throttle-by-wire system to aid the management of rear-tire traction via Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), and of front-wheel lift through the integrated wheelie mitigation system.
Cornering ABS is another feature, as is Rear Lift Control. The IMU detects lean angle and deceleration (from front/rear wheel-speed sensors) and incorporates the slip rate of the front and rear wheels to manage braking pressure through the ABS; likewise, if it detects sudden rear-wheel lift, it finely controls brake force to maintain stability.
There are three preset riding modes from which the rider may choose, covering a wide variety of riding conditions and three levels of management for Power and Engine Braking, with level 1 delivering the maximum of either parameter. Mode selection is managed from the left-hand switch cluster.
- URBAN is standard and offers an all-round middle setting of engine power and engine braking.
- RAIN reduces engine power and engine braking for extra reassurance on wet or slippery surfaces.
- TOUR gives full engine power and standard engine braking, for strong acceleration while carrying a passenger and luggage.
- USER 1 and USER 2 modes offer the ability to customize between all the settings, for the preferred combination. Once set, the USER setting is automatically stored, so there’s no need to reset each time the ignition is turned on.
There are also three levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control, with integrated wheelie mitigation—each level’s amount of intervention is optimized to work with real-time input (yaw/roll angle and rate) from the IMU. Level 3 provides the highest intervention. An indicator in the instrument display activates when HSTC is working; it can also be turned off completely.
Cruise control and multi-level heated grips come standard.
CHASSIS / SUSPENSION
The steel semi-double-cradle frame employs a relatively short wheelbase and sharp steering geometry. Wheelbase is 60.4 inches, with rake and trail of 26.5°/108mm (4.3 inches) and 6.8 inches of ground clearance. Curb weight for the NT1100 DCT is 547 pounds.
Suspension
The 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted fork features 5.9 inches of travel and is adjustable for preload. The single-tube pressurized Showa shock has a 14mm diameter shaft and offers adjustable preload and 5.9 inches of wheel travel. To simplify carrying a passenger and/or luggage, spring preload adjusts hydraulically, and remotely.
Wheels
The wheels are aluminum, fine diecast with a sand core, allowing a hollow hub center for the front. An intersecting spoke design (with the spokes attaching to the rim diagonally) smooths road vibration while riding in a straight line, and it offers high rigidity for cornering. Tires are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.
Brakes
Dual 310mm front brake rotors are squeezed by lightweight, four-piston radial-mount calipers. The 256mm rear rotor uses a mono-piston caliper.
The NT1100 DCT comes with a two-year warranty.
Engine & Drivetrain
Africa Twin Power
Designing a great motorcycle always begins with equipping it with a great engine and the NT1100 is no exception. The 1,084 cc parallel-twin eight-valve Unicam engine at the heart of the NT1100 gets its DNA from the acclaimed Africa Twin, so you know it’s got buckets of torque down low. A sport-tourer also needs ample top-end horsepower, which is why engineers modified intake and exhaust components and other tuning elements to give the engine a broad powerband and a character all its own.
Adjustable Riding Modes
Want to tweak engine performance to better suit your riding style or the road conditions? No problem with the NT1100’s adjustable riding modes. Choose from three default modes: Urban, which delivers an all-round middle setting of engine power and engine braking; Rain, which reduces power and braking for wet surfaces; or Tour, which gives full engine power and standard engine braking for strong performance while carrying a passenger and luggage. Want a setting somewhere in between? Two customizable User modes let you do just that.
Throttle By Wire
Throttle By Wire (TBW) ensures accurate engine response through the full range of throttle openings, minimizing any delay in power delivery so you have full control of the NT1100’s broad powerband.
Predictable Performance
With Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), three-level Wheelie Control, and Cornering ABS, you can ride with extra confidence even in less-than-ideal conditions.
HSTC Assist
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) controls torque output by detecting differences in the slip ratio between front and rear wheels. When the rear tire loses traction on a slippery surface, HSTC is engineered to instantly kick-in and suppress torque by controlling fuel injection to help inhibit rear-tire slip. This system is user adjustable and can be turned off.
Available DCT
The NT1100’s available Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) is an automated manual transmission built with the same operating principles as a manual transmission, but it shifts automatically so you can enjoy the ride without having to worry about the clutch or gears. And best of all, it’s fully adjustable. Choose versatile D mode for commuting in the city or comfortable cruising on the highway, or sporty S mode for winding roads and situations such as accelerating when merging or overtaking on highways. In S mode, three levels of shift timing are available — from a sportier level that uses more of the high rpm range, to a level that allows full torque mainly in the mid rpm range. Want even more control? Switch to MT mode and use the paddle shift buttons on the left handlebar to override the automatic gear selection, or put it in manual mode for full control.
Assist Slipper Clutch
For riders who prefer to shift the traditional way — with a clutch lever and foot pedal — the NT1100 is also available with a durable six-speed manual transmission. With help from the assist slipper clutch, you get a light pull at the clutch lever and reduced risk of rear-wheel hop caused by rapid engine braking and downshifting.
Chassis & Suspension
Comfortable Chassis Geometry
The NT1100’s steel semi-double-cradle frame with aluminum subframe was designed specifically to create a riding position that’s comfortable for touring, yet sporty enough for backroad exploring. A forward lean angle of five degrees reduces stress on the lower back, and a seat height of 820 mm plus a slim seat width at the front ensure an easy reach to the ground at stops. Likewise, rake and trail dimensions strike a perfect balance between manoeuvrability and stability, so the NT1100 feels right at home in the city and on the open road.
Premium Showa Suspension
Bumpy backroad or smooth highway, riding solo or bringing a friend and luggage along, the NT1100’s suspension can handle it all. The Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function front Fork – Big Piston) 41 mm inverted fork uses a damping mechanism in one leg and only a spring in the other leg, which reduces sliding resistance and weight. Both the fork and the single rear Showa shock can easily be adjusted for spring preload (hydraulic adjustment on the rear), and both provide a generous 150 mm of travel.
Lightweight Components
Gravity Die Casting (GDC) of the curved aluminum swingarm improves rigidity, and the light weight of the swingarm and 17-inch aluminum wheels keep unsprung weight low for smoother, more accurate suspension response over bumpy roads. Reduced weight in these components also aids overall bike agility, so you can navigate tight city turns or backroad corners with ease.
ABS Braking
A bike this versatile will get ridden a lot, in a lot of different road and weather conditions. That’s why the NT1100 come standard with sophisticated ABS assist for the dual four-piston radial-mount front brakes and single-piston rear brake.
Adjustable Windscreen
The NT1100’s sporty styling disguises the fact that it’s fully equipped for long road trips, in all sorts of weather. The front fairing looks sleek and compact, but it, plus lower deflectors by your feet, help to keep wind and rain from ruining your ride. And you’ll love the five-stage easily adjustable windscreen with 164 mm range of movement, standard heated handgrips, and standard cruise control.
Relaxed Control
Comfort is key when heading out on a weekend or week-long adventure, so the NT1100 was designed with an upright seating position that promotes a sense of relaxed control, while also avoiding stress on your back and arms. The seat, too, was built for comfort, with plenty of padding for both rider and passenger. Even the wide aluminum handlebar with rubber-mounted risers was carefully designed to provide accurate feedback while damping unpleasant vibration.
Full Connectivity
To keep you connected while riding, the 6.5-inch full-colour TFT (thin film transistor) instrument panel incorporates Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto®, and Bluetooth integration, as well as displaying a wealth of information about bike settings and performance. It’s pressure sensitive, and can be operated with gloves on. You can even choose between three modes to display only the information you want.
Optional Luggage
Got stuff to carry? Strap it to the sturdy rear carrier rack. Even more stuff? Then check out the available hard saddlebags for more storage room.
Large Fuel Tank
With the NT1100’s efficient engine and ample 20.4-litre fuel tank, you can confidently explore out-of-the-way places even when fillup stations are few and far between.
For 2025, the NT1100’s styling has been updated and refined to deliver both a sharper silhouette and efficient aerodynamic performance around a riding position that remains tailored for touring. The aesthetic changes are crowned by dual headlights that feature unique new Daytime Running Lights complete with subtly integrated indicators for a supremely sophisticated frontal signature – and improved visibility.
All-round performance receives a substantial boost thanks to changes to the 1,084cc parallel twin cylinder engine. The new tuning – via intake, combustion and exhaust revisions – produces 7% more low- and mid-range torque, while keeping peak power. The engine’s efficiency allows a 400km range from the 20L fuel tank.
True to its ‘New Touring’ brief, both comfort and practicality are boosted for 2025. Reprofiled upper and lower wind deflectors work in unison for even better weather protection; a revised, longer front mudguard contributes to the same cause. The adjustable screen can now be operated one-handed by the rider from a seated position, whilst the larger, redesigned seat offers increased support comfort for the long haul. The standard-fit panniers have also been redesigned, increasing in volume to hold a full-face helmet each.
Operation of the electronic rider aids is now improved by the inclusion of a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for more precise control not only of the three-level Honda Selectable Torque Control but also three-level Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS, and Rear Lift Control. It’s also involved in riding mode management, of which there are three defaults: ‘Urban’, ‘Rain’, and ‘Tour’. Individual customisation of all parameters is also possible in ‘User’ mode.
Further elevation of the touring experience is provided by the new option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa-EERA) suspension. Offered alongside the standard Showa suspension version, the advanced Showa-EERA offers real-time optimisation of damping in all riding conditions, as well as the ability to adjust rear spring preload on the move.
A final touch for improved comfort comes in the shape of revisions to Honda’s proven six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), which has been redeveloped to improve low-speed feel and is now linked to the IMU for intuitive gear shifting while cornering.
The full range of equipment is as impressive as ever: a full colour 6.5-inch TFT touch screen provides customisable displays and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity; cruise control, upgraded heated grips, ACC and USB charging sockets, self-cancelling indicators, Emergency Stop Signals (ESS) and a centre stand are all also standard fit.
The NT1100 is a smart, sophisticated and thoroughly modern touring motorcycle. And we’ve just given it an upgrade. The twin-cylinder engine now packs more low to mid-range torque for improved acceleration. A sporty new fairing mounts the easy adjust screen and LED headlights with new DRL indicators, whilst a new Intertial Measurement Unit (IMU) control is at the heart of the updated electronic package adapting the bikes handling to the ride.
Daytime Running Lights
DRL now features integrated indicators for improved visibility to pedestrians and other road users.
Increased Luggage Capacity
Panniers fitted as standard now carry an extra 4L in each, meaning both will handily store a full-face helmet.
Adjustable Windscreen
5-level adjustable windscreen is now even easier to move whilst seated with one hand.
Six-Axis IMU
The Six-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) expands the range of control supporting the new cornering ABS, rear tyre lift control, DCT and more.
Updated Dual Clutch Transmission
A very popular option, DCT is now super-smooth at low speeds and when setting off.
Updated Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)
DCT uses IMU cornering detection for intuitive gear-changing; it also makes use of the extra torque and gives smoother response at low speed. A six-speed manual option is also available.
Riding Equipment for Everyday and On Tour
The NT1100 is built as a long-term riding partner, panniers, a rear rack, centre stand, and ACC and USB charging sockets are all standard features. Apple car play, and Android auto are also available as standard.
