2025 Honda CBR400R: SPEEDY STYLING.
Introducing the 2025 Honda CBR400R…
Aggressive styling with a sense of speed
The styling has evolved, emphasizing the cutting-edge wedge shape and inheriting the DNA of racing machines. The compact front cowl and the wide lower cowl, which aims to improve the streamlining effect, express a condensed and well-balanced proportion. The narrowed riding space allows you to ride as if the machine and the rider are one. In addition, the dual headlights and taillights, which are the identity of the CBR series, have been newly designed, making them a new icon of the CBR400R.
2025 Honda CBR400R Totalmotorcycle.com Key Features
A 400cc sports model that visualizes aggressive riding.
A performance worthy of the “CBR” name
Excellent mobility and comfort
A variety of features to enhance the fun of riding
2025 Honda CBR400R Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
Air Management
Control the airflow and use the wind to your advantage
The upper cowl improves the streamlining effect and reduces wind pressure on the rider’s upper body. In addition, the middle cowl on both sides has a new duct with winglets and slits on the inside. This realizes advanced air management based on feedback from the racing scene. It enables a sporty ride with a sense of lightness and stability.
Position
Riding position suitable for aggressive riding
We aimed for ease of handling in various situations, from congested city streets to touring on the highway and sports riding on winding roads. Around the cockpit, the separate handlebars placed under the top bridge aim to achieve both sportiness and comfort. It also supports positioning suitable for aggressive riding. In addition, the flat side covers and the narrowed rear end of the fuel tank ensure ease of knee grip and good foot placement.
Engine
An exciting ride worthy of the “CBR” name
The 399cc water-cooled DOHC in-line 2-cylinder engine has an output characteristic that is torqueful and powerful at low and mid-range speeds, which are often used in daily commuting, and powerful and smooth at high-range speeds. In addition, by optimizing the injection system, it also achieves “ease of use” with a linear response to the throttle opening.
Exhaust system
The sound becomes more uplifting as the rotation speed increases
The short muffler with an irregular cross section has a twin-pipe structure for the tailpipe, emphasizing the pulse and crispness that is unique to a twin engine at low revolutions, and producing a racing exhaust sound that becomes more uplifting as the revolutions increase.
Clutch
Assist & Slipper® clutch for improved operability *
The Assist & Slipper® Clutch * is used to improve operability. The clutch spring has been optimized to reduce the clutch lever operation load and suppress sudden engine braking when downshifting. A dog-leg shaped clutch lever has also been adopted to improve the fit when operating.
*”Assist & Slipper” is a registered trademark of F.C.C. Co., Ltd.
Torque Control System
HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control)
HSTC controls the driving force level to the rear wheels as needed. Based on the value calculated from the speed difference between the front and rear wheels, it optimizes engine torque by adjusting the fuel injection amount, which contributes to rear wheel slip control during acceleration and a sense of security on slippery roads. The system can be operated by turning the torque control switch on the left handlebars on either side.
*HSTC is not a system to eliminate slippage or wheelies. It is merely a system to assist the rider in operating the accelerator. Therefore, just like vehicles that are not equipped with HSTC, it cannot handle reckless driving. When driving, please avoid sudden accelerator operation and drive safely.
Frame Body
Strength and flexibility to support aggressive driving
The frame is a diamond type that takes advantage of the moderate flexibility of φ35mm steel pipes. It is lightweight yet highly rigid, allowing it to flexibly respond to changing road conditions and providing a light and agile handling.
Suspension
The rider’s intentions are transmitted to the road surface
The front is equipped with Showa (Hitachi Astemo Co., Ltd.) SFF-BP * inverted forks with an inner pipe diameter of φ41 mm. The SFF (Separate Function front Fork) is equipped with a damping mechanism and spring on the right fork and only a spring on the left fork, which contributes to reducing sliding resistance and making the body lighter. The rear suspension is a separate pressurized single tube type, which contributes to road tracking performance.
*SFF-BP is a registered trademark of Hitachi Astemo Ltd.
Brake
Dual disc brakes on the front
The front brakes, which are essential for a crisp ride, use double discs. The calipers are radially mounted. It is also equipped with an ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) that helps maintain vehicle control and braking performance by preventing tire lock caused by excessive braking or sudden changes in road surface.
*ABS is a system that assists the rider in braking. As with vehicles that are not equipped with ABS, sufficient deceleration is required before corners, etc., and the system cannot handle reckless driving. When driving, please avoid sudden braking and drive safely. When the ABS is activated, the system is notified by kickback (rocking back).
Meter
Full-color LCD meter that displays a variety of information
It is equipped with a 5-inch full-color TFT LCD meter that consolidates various information such as a fuel gauge, clock, instantaneous/average fuel consumption, and fuel consumption display function. The display layout can be selected from three types: bar, circle, and simple. The background color can also be set to white, black, or automatic. In addition, it is equipped with a shift-up indicator function that changes the blinking cycle according to the gear position and engine speed to inform the timing of shifting, and a tachometer peak hold function that can be set to blink at any speed.
Honda RoadSync
Honda RoadSync enables linking with smartphones
The CBR400R and smartphone can be linked, allowing the rider to operate map and music apps on the smartphone using handlebar switches or their voice via a Bluetooth® headset .
*Please refrain from operating the smartphone while driving.
*A dedicated app must be installed to use Honda RoadSync.
*Available content varies depending on the app.
Select Switch
Intuitive 4-way select switch
The left handlebar is equipped with a multi-function switch that can be used to operate Honda RoadSync and change various settings. LED illumination allows smooth operation even at night.
Headlights & turn signals
A bold design that symbolizes individuality in driving
The LED dual headlights, which are the identity of the CBR series, give the front mask a fierce look. The turn signals, which also use LEDs, are mounted in a position that ensures visibility without spoiling the beauty of the form.
Tail lamp
LED tail lamps that tighten the tail end
The LED tail lamps have a strong presence with their short and tight tail end. The compact lamps are embedded into the rear end of the seat to create a tighter silhouette.
Wheel
A design that evokes the image of light running
The car uses lightweight aluminum cast wheels with a simple cross-sectional shape and a Y-shaped five-spoke design that flexibly adapts to changes in road conditions.
Emergency Stop Signal
Quickly notify the following vehicle of sudden braking
An emergency stop signal is installed, which quickly notifies following vehicles of sudden braking by rapidly flashing the hazard lights.
*The emergency stop signal is a system that quickly notifies following vehicles of sudden braking. When driving, please avoid unnecessary sudden braking and drive safely.
Security
To protect your car from vandalism and theft
* Anti-theft mechanism “H.I.S.S. (Honda Ignition Security System)
* Reinforced handlebar lock mechanism & reinforced key cylinder
