Double pump to change gears

I have an 06 Boulevard M50 with 19000 km (12000 miles). This season I've noted that when I try to shift up I often have to "double pump" the shifter to get into the next higher gear? It goes into gear smooth enough but it sometimes takes two kicks. The clutch lever seems fine for me, the nearest motorcycle repair is 60 km away so I'm hoping it's just an adjustment thing but I'm hoping someone way have an idea what it could be.
