1998 bandit questions

currently have two t shaped hoses connecting two sets of carbs together in my 1998 bandit that need to be replaces, main question I have about these hoses is are the hoses not supposed to ultimately be connected to anything besides connecting two carbs together, again the two carbs are connected together with the T connector its just both sides have tubing running up the seat not really connected to anything, if its supposed to just be that way could I just buy two pieces of tubing and just connect the carbs and screw getting the t connector.
