what is the best thing to remove rust off of chrome

have my first restore project and I am starting by cleaning all the parts first. I have surface rust on the spoked rims what can I use that wont wreck the chrome to bad

Autosol worked for me removing rust off of chrome for many years, I even bought some here in the UK as I forgot to bring mine from Canada.

Thanks to all for the info. 0000# steel wool worked real good but rust went a little to deep in some spots now I have to find some one to rechrome .Will post some pics soon. also got lucky and found some one who has parts I need on ebay that makes me real happy since I'm finding out its a pain in the A$$ trying to find parts but my son and I are learning alot that makes it worth it

I use autosol or eagle1 never dull, works great and polishes brilliantly.

Sounds weird but tomato ketchup and a toothbrush worked well for my exhaust! Just remember to wash it off after. Google it there's a few things you can mix ketchup with to make it even more effective. Good luck

Another method is to wash the part and then rub it with a piece of aluminum foil that's been dipped in salt water. Periodically wipe off the residue and dry the part when done. Other solutions can be found on WikiHow.
