Spoke to the stealer service about the low oil. They appologized and offered to refund the oil change. Thought that was cool.

Getting the oil level right on the M109R seems to be an issue. When picking up the bike new I told the stealer to be extra careful not to overfill as I heard many stories of new owners with overfill oil coming out of the air filter all over their leg. Seems that you really need to check the oil after service as well.

Funky rule for checking oil: riding or idle for 15 minutes, let sit for 5 minutes, check without screwing in threads..PAIN IN THE BUTT.

I just went to the dealership recently and they had three M109. I asked "hey, what's with these things? Are they not selling well?". The sales guy said, they are selling so well they have to make sure they keep a few in stock. I guess they are selling them in record numbers. On the other hand the Star motorcycles aren't doing very well.

Really opened up the M109 on today's ride. Found that the sweet spot for the engine is at 5000 rpm. Bike comes alive when accelerating and hitting that mark. REALLY FUN!!!!

Also love that I don't have to shift thru or outside of the twistys just keep it in 3rd and have a BLAST!!

I have seen a few M109s around town. Has to be the best sounding cruiser I have ever heard with the stock pipes (most cruisers sound wimpy with stock pipes).

for $3000 less you could buy the Honda VTX1800, or the Yamaha 1700 Roadstar thats just as fast if not faster. PLEASE!!!! don't say the words " Resale Value" !!!! resale value only applies if its a collectors item or an antique.

I've heard a stock 109 is good for high 11 second 1/4 miles. The VTX will do low 12's, and the Roadstar is considerably slower than a VTX, so how do you figure either of these bikes are just as fast or faster than a 109?

Until I meet up with either bike at Bandimere Drag Raceway I won't be able to answer your question other than I do know the M109R is lighter than the VTX1800 and has whopping torque that breaks the rear tire free from the pavement in rolling starts in 3rd gear. Haven't heard that from other cruiser owners. The bike is a blast to ride with a huge range in 3rd gear so you don't have to shift thru the curves and have plenty of rpms to accelerate out of. FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine a 109 not being able to easily take either one of these bikes. Besides the 109, the VTX1800 C/F model is the closest to the 109 in terms of performance. The Roadstar is a slug compared to the 109 or the VTX. The Yamaha that's closest is the Road Warrior, but it's more on par with the Vulcan 2000 than the VTX. I've test ridden all the mentioned bikes except the 109. I'm working on that. I'm sure once I ride one, I'll want one. My last bike was a V-Max and I loved the power, it was just too uncomfortable. I still like the power, but I gotta have the comfort too.

Just rode 300 miles today through 5 canyons at elevations up to 10,000 ft. My butt never hurt and even went one leg 3 1/2 hours without stopping. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME bike!!!! Loves the curves and flys thru the straights.

You will not regret getting one.
