The only exception I would have is taller people (I'm only 5'10) in general that can't find a bike of 500cc to ride that is comfortable for at least 60 minutes.
If you want to go long distance, get a plane ticket. You get there in one piece and enjoy your destination. If you insist on a bike, then wait a couple years or more till your that good by other peoples standars, not just your own. Being able to do 80+ down the freeway is not the standard. After comfortable riding on your own, try building up to it with group rides of longer and longer distances first.
Just to clairify,A Honda 600cc supersport CBR is listed as a 600cc,however if you read the specs, the actual size of the engine is in fact a 598cc,now I never said there wasnt any diff between a 500cc and a 600cc,i said the diff was minnor,Also,Let's face it,some people just want a 600cc because it sounds so cool,Well yippy for you,
Pay the outragous insurance,Get ticket after ticket,Get broken bones on of broken bones,I really don't care,But facts are facts,No 600cc is a full on 600cc engine,They are less than 600cc,and a 500cc is less than 500cc,just like a 1000cc is less than 1000cc,It's called Scalling, they scale up the cc to the closet size, ever heard of rounding off to the nearest number?
And in the world of power and insurance,A 500cc falls into the same class as a 600cc,A 250cc falls into the class of a 300cc,400cc,500cc and 600cc's are grouped together, everything from 750cc up is grouped in with the 1000cc bikes,You can sit there and talk about the diff that 100cc's make in a bike, but in the end all you are doing is proving the point that none of you are true riders,You want the power, you want the speed it's all about racing in your head,That's not a true rider,A rider is about the ride, the freedom, the spirit of the ride,Not the (Hey I have a 600cc bike,I can kick your butt)
That way of thought is the reason insurance is to high for everyone,Because of the streat racing jerks and the fools who can't just buy a bike to enjoy the ride,No they have to act like fools, and thus running the overall cost of insurance through the roof for everyone,Same way with these school kids who rush out and buy a Mazda RX8,A Hyundai Tiburon,Why just to race and look like a stud to their friends or to get attention,
Facts are facts, love it or hate it,DEAL WITH IT.enough wasting time on fools and their toys.
