I have never noticed my clothes smelling of exhaust.

Greas, oil, gas, sure, but not exhaust.

Probably is from the vehicles around you, not the bike you are riding.

I have a 1981 CB650C and I get the same thing. I'm fine if I don't have to sit at too many stoplights. The exhaust likes to be blown back towards me when I'm stopped and under calm conditions it seems to disperse straight up. I'm also pretty sure there is a tiny hole or gap in the exhaust on my right side. It's pretty rusty on that side like someone had to reconnect the muffler to the pipes. Are your pipes in good condition?

This problem has plagued me for a few years - I have '82 Yam Maxim 650. I always assumed problem was area of vacuum surrounding me because of windshield (large fairing with skirting) but maybe it's just my bike model...I see someone else with an "82 Yammy" chimed in on this thread too. It is indeed a pain - I've learned not to ride to places where it matters what I smell like when I walk in.

Wow. Talk about digging up an old thread. Lol. This one was made when I just signed up pretty much. Lol. As for exhaust smell, well, you want bad, take up snowmobiling. I allways smelled like I'd been hanging out in a locked up garage after a ride on my sled. Its a good thing though.

I prefer the scent of diesel exhaust but my gal likes gasoline exhaust better. Go figger...
Since she's the one who owns the goods I usually defer to her.
I don't see a problem here...
