Should I try to rebend highway bar or replace it

folks,

The other day I banged into a stationary pole with the outer edge of my Linby highway bar. At anyrate, the bar got bent a good bit and at the bottom weld, it cracked. I'd like to salvage the darn thing; if it is possible or advisable. On the other hand, the smart thing might to cut losses and get another highway bar. Or not? If I do replace it, I don't relish spending the $332 + shipping etc.

I am getting opinions on 1) does it make any sense to try to fix the old one? and 2) other types/brands of bars and peg setups. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I would love to hear.

The bike is a 2011 Suzuki Boulevard. c50t

Ive seen where someone welded some chrome pieces together and it did not look good.

I read your question a couple of days ago and I have been thinking about it.

The engine guards did their job in that they protected your bike from more expensive damage. How much would it have cost you if you had to replace more important parts of your bike? I would replace the "used" bars with a new set especially because of your comment about the weld that is cracked, and if you want them to look nice. If you can walk away from even a minor crash with less then $400 in damages, I think you did great.

Sorry, can't help. I use the trip meter to give me a good idea of how far I've gone on a tank of gas. I set it to zero when I fill up.
