I have a 2004 CRF230, my only negative comment is that mine does not have a kick starter. Didn't really figure that out until the battery was dead and I was going no where. Otherwise I really like the bike and have had no issues trail riding on it.

I have the 125L and i am looking at either a 250 or 450 for the road and off road.......i think that the 125 is underpowered personnnally, but it depends what you do with it......for me it is too slow, and not enough power. I am 15 and 140 pounds.

The Honda has a leas 40 yrs of development.
You can see its almost the same engine as the 1970 CB125. Its been bored and stroked and generally upgraded (I was doing 145cc kits in 1970's on 125's)
Honda obviously paid attention to what people were doing and decided they could do it better. Engine/chassis looks like the later XR200 so there will probably be a bunch of tuning parts if you want them
Dont know much about the Yamaha but it looks an awful lot like a small 250 engine that had some oiling issues ( probably fixed with re-design)
