2006 CRF250X

#1 Unread post by adriand56 »

I was planning to buy the 2006 CRF250X. I'm just wondering about your opinions about it. Is it worth the money? Whats the top speed on it? Thanks for your help.

I like them myself, but I'm a bit biased to like Honda's line of bikes for some reason. Top speed is probably around 60-70mph, depending on rider size and gearing on the bike. Great bike for trail riding, but if you race MX the CR250R or CRF250R would be a better choice. Not that the X couldn't compete, it's just geared more for trail riding than racing.

All I want to do is ride trails. I don't race.

The CRF250 is the best , but every 8 hours of riding time you need to check and adjust the valve clearance and check the timing chain tension, make sure the tensioner isnt bottomed out, its a good bike that requires a lot of maintance

my buddy has a crf250x and hates the gearing. you might want to look into gearing it down a little.
he also has a crf250r and races it. he's changed the gearing on that bike too...went one tooth lower in the rear (i think 51, don't quote me) because of that third gear.

If you got the money it's probably worth it, as it always seems to come out near the top of comparos that its in.

But if youre just trail riding you probably wouldnt need a really high top speed unless youre doing a lotta wide open riding. And if its your first bike or even one of the first then 8 grand is a helluva lot to spend on it.
