LADIES-International Female Ride Day May 6, 2011
Not that we need a special day to go riding.....however.....it is a day to recognize the advances that women have made in the world of motorcycling.
From the early days when women were scorned for the very thought of wanting to ride a motorcycle to the present time when we can walk into a motorcycle shop and be taken seriously.....most of the time.....
May 6, 2011 is a Friday so I'll ride to work and back that day and since it stays light out for a while, I'll try to organize a women's ride after work ride locally.
I know it's early yet....but the newsletter came with the info....and we haven't had anything to talk about lately.

Speaking of advancing
While at my gym last week, I met a woman in her 70s who was the first woman to get a motorcycle license in the US State of Massachusette. Just thought it was interesting as for me it reflected just how few years ago women started riding.

That would have been an interesting meeting. Just think of the changes she has seen for us.wasoutravelin wrote:While at my gym last week, I met a woman in her 70s who was the first woman to get a motorcycle license in the US State of Massachusette. Very cool
I'll pass the word along to my she-pals her in Seattle. We all met for a 'Teddy Bear' run last weekend (benefits a local children,s hospital). It was awesome. After the festivities we branched out (just us chicks) and took another run up to a bakery in the woods for danish and coffee (beer seemed like a bad idea). It was a kick-"O Ring" day! We should have more 'runs' with just female riders.
Peace out,
Noobie

Hey thanks Blues! I'll definitely go for a ride that day...even if it's raining...
It's cool to have a day "just for us", I see nothing wrong with being a proud woman for one day of the year!
Wow, can you imagine riding in your 70's? Wow, just incredible!

Count me in... heck, I may even be doing a long weekend ride during that time. We don't have to wear skirts or anything, right?!
Cheers,
