minor disaster averted - just red in the face...
...so my husband and I ride up to our local Kawi dealer last Saturday to find out they had a customer appreciation event going on (I apparently didn't get the memo). I pull in behind him and proceed to get so distracted by all the goings-on that I yanked a bit hard on the front brake while coming to a stop, which happened to be while I was turning into a parking stall. 3 guesses on what happened next - over she goes - GAH! In front of not only the dealer himself who sold me the bike new in May, but a conglomeration of other folks (mostly men of course) looking at bikes, etc.
Luckily, it didn't go over hard and I just about caught it, but alas I unwittingly became a damsel in distress and had about 5 guys leap to my rescue before my highway peg even got a scratch on it. My husband standing off to the side chuckling, of course.
Just a reminder of how easy it can happen - had I been alone, I woulda been one helpless damsel!!
Safe riding out there everyone - just my two cents for the day.

hitting the dust
I did a similar trick at a car show. I was following my girlfriend (she in the car and I on my bike). I pulled onto the grass to park by her but was told that I had to park with the Motorcycles. I dutifully headed to the far end of what was a baseball diamond. I had to go down a small hill and then up a small incline.
I guess I gunned it a little too much going up the hill. Dropped it, broke the lens on the turn signal and bent the mirror. I was okay but mortified by the number of people running over and asking me repeatedly if I was ok!

Now you'll never have to play the part of the helpless damsel.

Great Tip
Thanks for sharing the links on picking up a dropped bike. I feel much better about moving up to a bigger bike.
