#369: This or That? 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour (WINNER) vs 2018 Honda CB1000R
THIS? OR THAT! on the Total Motorcycle Cool Wall
Pick One. One will leave as Champion, the other in shame.
Week #386. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadies and gentlemen, may I have your attention!
Last week's Winner, the 2018 Honda CB1000R and raining Champion 3 weeks in a row goes forward to face this weeks heavyweight long distance touring favorite, and it's own family member, the 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour!
The 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour finished #1 in our 2017 Total Motorcycle Cool Wall. Could it be the one to stop the 2018 Honda CB1000R from winning a 4th Week?
Let's have a clean fight and no hitting below the airbox.

he three 2018 Gold Wing Tour models—Gold Wing Tour, Gold Wing Tour DCT, and Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag—are the modern interpretation of the classic Gold Wing, the ultimate long-distance touring machine, but with highly improved performance capabilities. Each of these models features saddlebags and a top case, as well as a tall electrically adjustable windscreen, front and rear speakers, and electrically adjustable suspension.
The next chapter in one of Honda’s most storied narratives began today with the unveiling of the 2018 Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour models. Revealed during a special event at Santa Barbara, California’s MOXI Museum of Exploration and Innovation, the all-new Gold Wing takes cues from the legendary GL models that came before it while maximizing potential through a lighter, more thrilling, and more technologically advanced package with a new engine, chassis, and electronics suite.

Honda’s new CB1000R is like a triple-shot of espresso for your motorcycling soul—black, no sugar. You get a high-revving 998cc four-cylinder engine, throttle-by-wire and Honda Selective Torque Control. Plus, check out the minimalist rear fender and four-into-one exhaust.
The winner of this week's THIS OR THAT will go on and fight the challenger next week. The overall winners will be determined how many weeks they can beat the competition.
Enjoy!

A naked motor cycle vs an over grown motorized lazy boy recliner? No contest....the CR1000R for the win.
Always ask why.

While I like the wing, I’d rather have the cb.

Sorry CB but there's a new ride in town. I know there are a lot of 'naked' riders looking at this ride and expressing their preference to not ride their grandfather's recliner, but when we suit-up for that 500+++ mile ride into the great beyond come talk to me about your comfort level after the first hour. Every bike has its purpose and the new Wing is simply the ultimate touring machine. I'll be giving up my BMW for one in the future.

I find most people who refer to a Gold Wing as a "Recliner", have never ridden a Gold Wing. Fast, furious and corner's like a beast, plus it's got all the bells and whistles to cover the continent comfortably (which I've done a few times). The Gold Wing wins in my books.

Whoa, Honda vs Honda! Both are amazing bikes, both winners in their own class. This is a hard choice, but for me, it's light naked FTW. Yes, not as comfortable on long rides, but it builds neck muscles and you get free bug protein! The GoldWing is an amazing bike, and I can't contest they are amazing to ride on long rides, car-like comfort but with the fun and enjoyment of riding a motorcycle. Easy on the bum, back, neck, legs, arms, a real enjoyment on the interstate (which I can't say about riding a naked bike on the highway). But in town, heavy, awkward and out of their comfort zones. It's a hard choice, a real trade-off.
I'd go with the Gold Wing, but in truth, it would be only to sell it, buy a Guzzi and pocket the extra... So, CB1000R it is.
