Need tips to relax

#1 Unread post by AmyF27 »

Grr. I have developed this habit where (I think) it's because I got tense. Anyway, I end up kind of leaning to the right and find the bike drifting toward the center /left. How can I keep from doing this stupid thing? I end up positioned almost like I'm leaning to turn but I do it when I (want) to ride straight. :frusty:

First of all

Welcome to the forum. :D

As for your question.....

When you are riding where are you looking?

Usually ahead but I do tend to look down often as I am always checking where hands are legs are, see how fast im going, worry far to much and I think that's the culprit. Need to be better about looking out ahead.

Very early in my riding I realized I was watching the road trying to detect and avoid nails. I'd done that since learning to ride a bicycle.

Once I realized what I was doing it became obvious that there was no way I could even see the nails, much less avoid them, at motorcycle speed. After that I could look far down the road and occasionally glance at the speedo and it got better.

I still try to avoid the big chunks of stuff in the road but I know to do that by looking as far ahead as I can.

Eventually you have to relax just due to exhaustion if nothing else....

When you quit checking on your hands and legs, you will probably do better. :)
