Pretty good stories, but I think I've got you all beat! I have never actually hit an animal while driving/riding, but I have scared two to death! Literally, both times, the animal decided it wanted to run out in front of me, missed my tires, but passed underneath the car. Both times I saw it, stopped, turned around, picked them up to make sure I hadn't crushed some part of them, and moved them to the side of the road. BEAT THAT!

Take a look at Northern Pete's Blog. Nothing tops him hitting the swamp donkey with a brand new SUV.

I had 3 birds kamikazee me last year. Really freaked me out the first time. I don't know how my deer alert works on deer yet but, the birds seem to dislike it and take off long before I reach them.

Probably the strangest animal experience I've had was a hitchhiker; I worked for a christmas tree nursery for several years. We mowed the lanes between the trees with a Gravely mower and sulky. I felt something on my leg and looked down to find a field mouse hanging onto my pantleg. He stayed there for about 20 minutes before finally jumping off and scampering away.

ONce hit a little bunny rabit. He was then doing the death rolls on the road. Couldn't leave him like that. He was obviously done. Had to roll over him a couple more times to end the pain. That'll stay with me a long time.

One dark morning (5:30 am) I was in a cloverleaf leaned way over when a cat ran from the grass right into my front wheel.

No choice - cut it in half.

Felt bad about it for a week.

I didn't actually hit this bird, but funny story anyway....
I was cruising up a county road out in farm-land boonies and a ring-neck pheasant flew out from the side of the road right in front of me, I thought I was going to hit it but it swerved and actually lead me!! flew about 5-8 feet in front of my windshield for a good 1/10 mile then swerved to the side of the road...swear by GOD TO IT!!...I was so close I could see it was a brightly colored male, feet folded up behind it, hear the brrrrrr of its wing beats and see its was the size of a feathered MEDICINE BALL!! OH, THANKEE LOR' I did'nt hit it!--right through the windshield into my open face and I wouldn't be here typing this!!!

Apparently, I am too. I laughed so hard, I had to explain it to my room-mate.
