1996 Honda CBR900RR - Battery light

Hey guys, my bike battery light flashes when I put the bike on but only when the headlights are on normal. When I put the lights on brights the battery light turns off completely. Is this cause because of overcharging on the battery causing too much charge unless the brights are on or is it not charging properly problem?
