how do I post a question in a forum.

I am trying to post a question in a forum but it says I need a recipient to post my question. I am new today and do not know anyone, besides I want to post to an entire group of people. I am unable t find anything that will help or show me how to post to a group. Can anyone help me figure this out. I am sure it is simple and I am just missing something along the way, but it is frustrating for me when I am new at this type of thing. Can anyone show me how to do this, post to a group?
