Indeed I and my wife did for our Canadian soldiers here in the USA.

I served in the Canadian Armed Forces (ARMY) myself and I find it a sad day indeed. We remember those who gave so much so today we can enjoy so our freedoms. Don't take freedom for granted, it's anything but "free".

Remember as you give up your personal freedoms for small benefits that those personal freedoms were won by not so small things.

Tyranny anywhere is a threat to freedom everywhere

Wow, I was unaware... Having seen the Berlin wall, I can't imagine the effect this one has on the locals

Ya, it's a shame for sure. Think of the wall acting as more of a medieval siege in modern times. While it really doesn't have anything to do with Canada (expect our Gov't wants it taken down), it's sad that other countries haven't learned from our history and our losses...

Did you see the Berlin wall in Berlin or elsewhere? I was reading bits of it are now all around the world on display.

Andrea and I got to see the little of what's left in Berlin (both West and East sides). There really isn't words to describe it when you see it in person, it's very solemn feeling. But you'll notice that wall is very short vs the Israeli wall.

Here is our photo in 2010 when we were at the wall (below).

My wife entered my name in a contest to see Phil Collins in Berlin, I won. That was in 1990, Berlin wasn't unified yet, the wall was still up except at certain locations. We still had to go through Checkpoint Charlie when we toured the east. The atmosphere in Berlin was electric. Where the wall was down, local people just stared at it's blank space in awe. We brought back about thirty pounds of the wall in various sized chips. The East Berliners had caught on to capitalism really quick, they were renting hammers and chisels for DM 5 for 15 minutes. The mark at that time was worth about $0.63 Canadian...

If you want to see the concert I have links to the full concert...
