Gone, gone, gone, and gone...

#1 Unread post by dr_bar »

Well, I listed my Valkyrie again. I put it up for 24 hrs and said that's how long it would be up for sale. Had three strong bites and the third one brought cash and an offer $200 under asking price. I needed the cash and he drove a fare distance to check it out, I didn't jump at it but made him know I appreciated the offer. So, like the title says, it's gone...

OK, so when did you start trying to sell that bike? I remember in 2007 it was still your main bike, but it wasn't too long after that you bought the Yammie, was it?

The Valkyrie sure is a sweet bike, I'm sure you will miss it. Did you list it on eBay or Craigslist or kijiji.ca* (* used to LOVE that site till eBay bought it out, now it just isn't the same)?

$200 under asking is really good... unless you are asking really, really low. I always say when selling a bike, always work a deal, never let a good buyer walk away...

I needed cash, the bike had to go so I listed it just below my previous asking price of $5,000. I know it could sell higher in other areas, or to the "RIGHT" buyer, but it was time for it to go... The buyer came with a mirror to check the tank for rust, a meter to check the charging rate, and a laser temp gauge to check if all cylinders were firing at the same temp. He was excited to take it home, now he has to sell two older goldwings...

He does sound like the right buyer. Were you concerned about the $200 just for principle, or because you were emotionally connected to the bike and hated to see it go for less than what you wanted for it? :D

Strangely enough, the buyer called and left a message on my voice mail. Wishing me well and Christmas blessings. He said the bike was awesome and that it lived up to all his expectations...
