Yes, from the comments we have heard at Home Depot here, they said don't tell them (contractors) you are new to Houston or moved here from another country as they tend to take advantage of that.

Thanks for the ideas on how to go further with them. I just got the paid in full receipt from them, but no warranty with it (well, it gives me an excuse to call them again).

I agree with jack. Get ahold of your local media. Most of them have a "business ripped me off" dept. they love it.
