The eastern seaboard is being flooded and pummelled by high winds.

Let's send a collective wish for all our east coast friends for their safe keeping.

40 miles back from the coast, and 40 miles north of the hurricane track meant we dodged a bullet here. Lots of rains and scary strong winds, but no major damage. Because of the storm's peculiar structure (a small-ish hurricane embedded in a larger noreaster), areas north of us got more damage from the surrounding noreaster than us.

(If you want to pinpoint me on a map, find Philadelphia and draw a line 15 miles due east. Kind of the northern fringe of south Jersey).

We just got the power back on here in DC. Lots of downed trees and flooding. The stories from NY/NJ are crazy though.

As of this morning, motorcycles were banned on many NJ public roads due to winds. Restriction may have been lifted since then, I haven't checked.

It's not good riding anyway, there's a patina of slimy chopped leaf crud coating many roads. Need to wait until that stuff dries out, and that will be Thursday at the earliest. Also many roads blocked with downed trees and power wires.

The storm has passed us in Upstate New York. The wind has been mild all afternoon but constant
and much of the wet has dried up here. More than a few downed limbs to pick up but no major
damage in the local area. Power has held up though there were many 'dips' all night.

Still not nice enough to go riding with the wet leaves covering all the roads.

A couple brown outs were tue worst things to happen here. The only thing I did to prepare was to strap my ninja to the porch so the winds couldn't knock it over.

Haven't been to work since last Friday and according to the e-mail I just got, not going there tomorrow either. Still no power.
