Poor guy, just riding in a motorcade and dies! Makes you really wonder what happened that he'd crash like that!

Re: Ouch...
there is a difference between someone who dies doing the job they were trained to do and someone who dies doing something that endangers the lives of others. This officer wasnt endangering the lives of others by doing something stupid rather he was doing what he was trained to do and happened to have a "hiccup" that caused him to crash. what that hiccup was I couldnt tell you but something caused him to crash other than being a stuntman doing 80mph in a 25mph city limit street on 1 wheel. This is actually saddening to hear as im sure thats not an easy job to do what this officer casey did (meaning being an escort).Wrider wrote:Poor guy, just riding in a motorcade and dies! I read that this morning - sad news. I get the vibe that there is some kinda curse on motorcycle escorts for the Bush motorcade
I don't know the details either, but my first guess is that he took his eyes or mind off the task at hand and was caught offguard and panicked, then got himself into a curb and tree. Whatever the cause, sad story.

People will start asking why motorcycles are being used in a motorcade being that their dangerous and all.
As for me, I hope that police officers who ride would start wearing better protective gear than just a dressy uniform and maybe a full face helmet. I still remember the officer that was badly hurt by someone in an SUV trying to beat a motorcade.

One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

+1 Around here the only protective gear cops wear are leather boots/gloves and 1/2 helmets... not much to protect them if they go down...JC Viper wrote:As for me, I hope that police officers who ride would start wearing better protective gear than just a dressy uniform and maybe a full face helmet. not to mention a full face helmet would be a better weapon than a half face .Wrider wrote:+1 Around here the only protective gear cops wear are leather boots/gloves and 1/2 helmets... not much to protect them if they go down...JC Viper wrote:As for me, I hope that police officers who ride would start wearing better protective gear than just a dressy uniform and maybe a full face helmet.
