Did you check the NYS DMV website? Usually you can go to traffic court and show the judge your bill for the new inspection and they'll probably dismiss the ticket. This is much less worse than driving with an car that has an expired registration.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

I can't find anything online that specifies the fee in the jurisdiction where I got the ticket.

There is no amount written on the ticket.

You guys don't think it matters that the officer did not sign the ticket?

not to a judge. However he may still throw it out. its worth a shot whats the worse that will happen? they make you pay it thats it big deal.

yea, i think it matters. Although if it has his badge number it may not. Either way, i'd fight it. You got the car taken care of the next day, and you've never had a ticket in your life. Most likely, fight it and it will go away.
