GAAAHHHH!!!!!!

#1 Unread post by Wrider »

I absolutely despise people that go out into snow with vehicles that they know can't make it... I went to work this morning at 6 like usual. Boss lets me off at 10:30, so I stop for some gas first. In one little 1/8th mile stretch of road, I helped out 16 freaking people who couldn't figure out that when there is 2 feet of snow on the ground, a car with 6 inches of clearance just isn't gonna make it!!! I ended up getting home at 1:30, and I only live 10 minutes from work and the gas station!!! BTW, I'm in Colorado Springs, and in the south end at that, so roads are starting to be ok now, but yeesh, I'd hate to be anywhere north of the north end of the Springs. I have a friend in Monument, about 20 miles north of the Springs, that has snow 5 feet deep, piled, not even drifted!

Just hand out boxes of matches and tell them to melt their way out.

I approve of this thread!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Sometimes you just have to go. I've had to drive in 2' snow in an accord.

Didn't want to. Had to.

But none of these people had to, they were all headed to Sam's Club. It's a little cheaper there, but any of them could have gone to the wide open walmart a couple of blocks away... lol
Oh, and CNF, that'd have been awesome! I wish I would have thought of that!
BTW, anyone with a Pontiac GTO (modern) should not put performance tires on and try not once, but TWICE to go up the hill, you'd have thought that after we freed the guy the first time he wouldn't have tried again... :frusty:

I have gone through 2 or 3 ft of snow on a dirtbike with studded tires. Suprisingly my jeep with 4 wheel drive got me into more stucks than any other veichle I owned. 10 inch wide tires on a truck that weighs a little more than a tonne floats on snow lol
