Success in South America: Two more victories for the BMW S 1000 RR in Brazil.

#1 Unread post by totalmotorcycle »

Munich (DE), 15th November 2016. The South American BMW Motorrad Motorsport racers continue being successful in the SuperBike Series Brasil (BSRBK). The penultimate round of the season, held at Goiânia (BR) at the weekend, saw another pole position, a double victory and a second place for the BMW S 1000 RR. While BRSBK rounds normally include one race, this time two encounters were held – and a BMW rider stood on the top step of the podium on both occasions.

On Saturday, championship leader Danilo Lewis (BR) set the fastest qualifying lap on his TecFil Racing Team RR and claimed his first ever pole position in this series. In Sunday’s first race, Diego Pierluigi (AR) celebrated his third win in a row with the BMW Motorrad Alex Barros Racing RR. Second place on the podium also went to a BMW rider: Marco Solorza (AR / JC Racing Team). Lewis crossed the line in sixth place. In race two, Solorza rode his RR to victory. Lewis came home in fourth and Pierluigi was eighth.

In the championship standings, Lewis defended the lead and has an advantage of four points over his closest rival with one round to go. The season finale will be held on 4th December in Curitiba (BR).
