FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2016) - This weekend - October 7-9 - American Flat Track returns for the 12th annual Barber Vintage Festival presented by the Triumph Dealers of North America at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. The weekend-long festival will host a variety of entertainment spectacles, as well as a widespread vendor area where visitors can enjoy all things motorcycling. American Flat Track, recently rebranded from AMA Pro Flat Track, will heighten this weekend's entertainment by providing fans with an opportunity to get up close and personal with a number of exquisite flat track motorcycles.

Fans can feast their eyes on the generation two Crosley/Howerton "green machine" at the American Flat Track tent, which Bryan Smith used to power through the finish line to clinch his career-first Grand National Championship over three-time champ Jared Mees at the Santa Rosa Mile. Smith and the Crosley/Howerton team raced this engineered prototype Kawasaki Ninja 650 and led it to victory this season.

Visitors will also be able to gaze upon the GNC2 Championship single-cylinder Honda CRF450R that Ryan Wells piloted into victory in the class for up and coming riders. Wells raced this Parkinson Brothers bike into the ranks of the top-tier dirt track racers in the world and will race against former role models in the AFT Twins class next year.

Spectators will also be able to see a 1970 Honda CB750 directly from the Barber Motorsports Museum. This rare machine is a four-cylinder, four-stroke with an air-cooled 750cc engine. Racer Rick Hocking sported the No. 31Z and was one of the few to ride this "white lightning" chassis in an AMA sanctioned Grand National.

Another flashback to the past bike that will be on display at the AFT tent will be a 1977 Ducati Dirt Tracker, designed and built by Eddie Wilbanks. This powerhouse 750cc twin was handcrafted for the Mile and Half-Mile circuits and contains a GT motor to sustain the high speed racing action of Flat Track sport.

Additional information about the American Flat Track series will also be available at the AFT tent including a schedule of events for the 2017 race season, so racing enthusiasts can start planning their family trips early.
