85 Shadow 700c or 93 Shadow 1100c

#1 Unread post by Licoricekid »

I need help from those in the know:

I am getting back on a bike after 10 years. Mostly looking for gas mileage, but don't want a woosie bike either. My last bike was a CX500 (1980's). So here's my problem: I have 2 bikes I'm weighing:

1. 85 Shadow VT700C 13K mileage/really clean no dents/scratchs, new tires, battery, w/s, and rebuilt carbs or
2. 93 Shadow VT1100C 20K mileage/ also clean, new tires and battery

I think 700CC is good enough for my needs, but do I pass on the newer bike. They both want the same-about $3K (negotiable)

What would you do?? Thanks.

That sounds like a lot of money for the 1985! He probably wants what he paid for and then some.

Yeah, Kelley says $1950, but you can't always go with them even with retail, but they also assume mileage would be 45k++. Figured I would offer 2000-2400 max.

hey

I have a similar bike i have a 1982 honda magna 750 c. I would suggest that you go the newer model, because here in calgary,ab you cannot find parts for that bike. tho nothing ever is really wrong with it it is kind of a starter bike, lots of power and great on roadtrips but for someone my size 6'2" 300 +lbs it is kind of cramped on the long trips. Also i am looking for a new bike myself so that is what I would do go with the new one.
