My Motorcycle Camping Trip to Tiger Waterfall

#1 Unread post by hyzhenry »

Sharing some photos I took on a trip with a bunch of friends last year to Air Terjun Harimau Berjemur also known as Tiger Waterfall in Malaysia. https://goo.gl/maps/wbzGBgBx7QxyS7w3A

This was the BMW R1200GS I rented.

We started riding around 11.15am in the morning. After about an hour or so of dirt riding, we started feeling the mid-day heat and exhaustion building up in us. We had to take frequent rests and constantly hydrate ourselves.

We asked for an adventure, and we got an adventure. Approximately 5km from the falls, it started raining. Actually, it started POURING! Sheets of heavenly fluids came smashing down onto us, turning the dusty trails into a slimy mud track. Luckily for us, we found a nearby village settlement and took shelter there while we waited out the rain.

The sun re-emerged some time later, but not before turning the ground into a traction-less slippery sheet of gooey mud. Our heavy adventure bikes struggled as we inched along the route and we finally reached our campsite at about 4pm.

Set up my Lazy Monk hammock and a rain tarp as it rains almost everyday and sometimes multiple times in this climate. I had one of the best sleep I've had
for some time in the open. This was the photo I took in the morning of my hammock setup.

The sunrise was breathtaking but my camera don't do justice to how beautiful it was.

There are these black and orange stripes rocks that make up the waterfall. That's where it got its name from.

Was a great trip. Hope to do it again when the pandemic is over.

What an amazing adventure and opportunity! Were you inspired at all by "The Long Way 'Round" or "The Long Way Down" by chance?

I did get the inspiration from the documentary actually. It made me feel like I could go anywhere on my bike. So far though, the longest trip I took is about 2500km or so.
