Re: Discuss: Your pet peeves while riding?
In a word, traffic. Nothing worse then flying down a deserted empty road and then run into the back of a long line of cages crawling about like so many fat and bloated cows. And cows is a apt descriptions as cagers seem to have this herd mentality and like to bunch up, usually when they should be spreading out.
My pet peeve, traffic.
My pet peeve, traffic.
Always ask why.

Re: Discuss: Your pet peeves while riding?
I can agree on the traffic. What peeves me is the lack of respect here in Houston they give each other (and other riders). It's the me first, then me, then me again, then maybe you attitude. No turn signals, no respect for red lights and no road manners at all.
They say "Ride like other cars are trying to kill you", here they are!!

Trucks that don't have tarps on their load. I live a couple of miles from a Campbell soup factory and right now it's tomato season...it's too dangerous to take the bike down the road near there for fear of catching a tomato in the face. I suspect that at 55-60mph, that would hurt.

Aside from traffic....which clearly irritates all of us....
Smokers. They blow their smoke out the window and of course it blows back my way....Then they have the audacity to toss their butt out the window....still smouldering....at a red light....beside me....

When Carrie and I are riding staggered formation and some half-brained dimwit decides there's precisely enough room between us for THEIR car.

Blues, I hate when that cigarette has it's ashes flicked off in the wind and then thrown out while I'm riding at speed behind them. No respect for a rider, or the environment. I've seen this done in forested areas during the summer...

Ever get behind someone who spits out of the window? This happened to me the other day. Not pleasant at all.

I had someone spit gum out once and it landed on an exhaust pipe. It was not easy to get off.

1.) When Cage Drivers are at a crossroad stoplight and start to pull out, then stop& you don't know what they are doing. AND neither do they!
2.) Cage Drivers that change lanes whether you. Are beside them or not!

Great Wall of truck.
My pet peeve is weather up here. Morning I need long johns, gloves, thermal underwear. And by afternoon I'm needing to backpack all my cold weather stuff since it's ungodly hot out.

Re: Discuss: Your pet peeves while riding?
To be honest, people in cars don't tick me off because my expectations are low anyway. I get ticked off more by other motorcyclists, because you kinda assume they'd know better, we're going through similar amounts of risk, we're in this together, etc. I especially get annoyed when riding in a group with unfamiliar people (which is why I don't do it often); riders behind me who don't leave enough space between us, riders who really gun it on the freeway (but are freakin' slow on the twisties), riders who overtake me on my own lane, and just a general lack of safety.
