Good luck with ICBC... 'Nuff said...

found out yesterday icbc has approved all the extra work, and that it's not close enough to write it off (about 1800-2k away from that apparently) so my options are:

1. wait for 3-4 more weeks for the bike to be fixed, pay the 500.00 deductible and keep the same bike although fully repaired

2. check and see today what kind of an offer burnaby kawasaki can help me with to get out of that bike and into a new one

option 2 is not really something I'm considering seriously. That may change if they can keep the costs close, but I'm expecting I'd lose a couple thousand to do that and being that I love my ninja 650 I'm having a hard time with the idea of letting it go. That being said, I'm worried that something else may be damaged and hasn't been noticed, or may have been weakened and make it prone to breaking later when I will have to pay for it.

will see what option 2 looks like today otherwise I'll continue to be bike-less for another 3-4 weeks. It sucks badly in summer. Has been 3 weeks already.

So what's the verdict...new or repaired?

I can't ride, so I'm lurking!

Later.

new 2012 ninja 650 black. they're going to take my bike in at a 7k value on the trade in, I'll pay 500 for the icbc deductible so they can get that fixed and resell it, and will complete the paperwork this afternoon, pay to get frame sliders added to it and then hopefully take delivery of it tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to have them deliver it as my thumb is still a bit weak and sore, the ride from the dealer to my house might not be the best idea until I can take a short ride and see if it'll hold up to work the throttle properly.

It's tough saying goodbye to the first bike, but I don't want to have anything in the back of my mind while riding and if I was still on that one I'd be wondering if there might be additional hidden damage that wasn't seen that could bite me later.

the difference will be rolled into the new loan, I think it was around 1200 bucks. Not the best decision financially, but not a big loss and the difference for my peace of mind sealed it.

**pictures will be coming as soon as I have it!**

Sounds like the right choice.

For a cookie, I would be more then willing to pick up your new toy for you from Burnaby Kawasaki and deliver it straight to your door, well by straight I mean, by the safest, least traffic congested route possible....might take a couple of days and few thousand kilometres to do it right, but you would have the peace of mind knowing that your new baby will be safely delivered to you almost broken in. And in order to conserve front tyre tread, I promise to make most of the journey on the rear tyre only, with the front high in the air....all this for the amazing low price of a cookie....give me shout if you are interested :D

You are too late sir, the bike is on the road being delivered to me now. I'm waiting for it and can't ride it until tomorrow, having a friend over and a few drinks, but pics to come tonight!

Took it for a brief 40 min ride this morning. Very tame, very mild rising on the new tires. Starting to look a little grey outside and the thumb was getting pretty sore so just parked it and might go again if the weather clears up. I don't want to be out in the rain trying to scrub in new tires. Initial impression, "fudge" I missed riding! Love the new bike. Feels very very good.

Looks sharp with the red coil spring! But the Orange one really grabbed your attention...black is a stealth bike...

I still think these bikes are one of the best 'all rounder' bikes out there...

Later.

I won't lie, I miss the orange but loving the improvements they made on the 2012. Much better all around. Just wish it could have been orange and black
