Howdy Jack, and welcome to the forum. I guess I'm more of a traditionalist by not trusting my hard earned money to a motorcycle company that has no track record. Good luck.

I agree with the hard-earned dollars statement in this case, but I guess it depends on your situation.
You got a buddy down the street looking to offload this sewing machine for a couple hundred bucks? Maybe not a bad idea. But if you're considering buying one brand-new, I wouldn't.

I didn't catch where you were from before I clicked Reply, but 1025 sterling converts to about 1600 American dollars. In the private seller listings in my area, that can bring a late 80's to mid 90's Virago 750 or Vulcan 800, late 90's Honda Nighthawk 650, and more early 80's Maxims and Magnas than you can shake a stick at. Any one of those bikes will be a better learning experience.

One more thing to think about -- I don't know how big the guy was who rode that thing at their claimed speed of 70mph, but I promise my eight year old could kick his biblical beast of burden. My eight year old daughter.

Another total POS from China. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. If the Chinese made planes, would you fly in it? I didn't think so. Buy a used bike from a reputable manufacturer instead.

In all likelihood, you'll sell it once you've built up basic riding skills. So might as well get something that would have reasonable resale value; aside from being a better learning experience, the bikes JackoftheGreen mentioned would also be better in that regard.

This, on the other hand, would be the perfect starter bike:

I haven't ridden the cbr125's here but talked to someone who has and I'd be very skeptical of that top speed. The guy I talked to was having to limp along on the highway with his.

My friend has been riding a CBR 125 for a couple of years...it was his re-entry bike into riding after a few years hiatus...he is a hefty guy..but he has no problems riding that thing on the highway. That bike can manage about 110kmh through the Fraser Valley.
