I rode for 8 hours one day, and I was beyond tired. I couldn't even turn my bike correctly anymore.

Bad photo...but thats $1.77 per litre in the mid point of the Icefield Hwy. The Eatmores were almost $3!!

All in all....4600km in 9 days. Gotta get a bigger bike!!

Enjoy

Well done, pics are great and looks like you managed just fine. Nothing beats a long distance trip.

Price of fuel is ridiculous at Saskatchewan River Crossing...and I had a soup, sandwich, coffee & a muffin...$23?? I almost cr@pped!! (I think I will bypass the Crossing stop and continue past the park gate...there is a gas station maybe 20kms past there and the fuel is $0.50/L cheaper)

I'm heading out this Saturday on a three day tour through the Kootenays in BC...start in Sylvan Lake and head down through Cochrane-Turner Valley-Sparwood to Cranbrook for the first day's riding...Cranbrook-Creston-Kaslo-New Denver-Revelstoke on day 2...Revelstoke-Golden-Lake Louise-Saskatchewan River Crossing-Rocky Mountain House-Sylvan to end the ride on Monday evening...should be awesome!! I'll take a bunch of pics and some video for upload...

I can't wait!! I don't have a touring bike either, but I have done some 600-700kms days...and the guy I'm riding with is on a '89 Honda CBR1000 Hurricane...I guess these days it would be classified as a "sport touring bike" but when it was new, it was the mean bike on the street...

Later.

When you are in Kaslo take 1/2 an hour to run north along the lake. You will have to double back when the road turns to gravel but it is well worth the time. That is a really nice trip you have planned - have a great time.

Thanks...we are planning on spending day two touring a little, since the destination isn't as far as the other two days...I used to live in Castlegar when I was in High School, so yeah the whole area is pretty nice to ride...I think I have picked a pretty scenic route to take along the lake and the ferry ride...I've never taken the road from Kaslo to New Denver, but I have been told it is really twisty and not busy...and there will be lots of pics, video & audio...taking all my toys  :canada:

Once I get it all compiled I will make a video (or two) and upload to YouTube...I'll post the link here...

Also had a third rider confirm that he was joining us...he's trying to sell his R1, so I don't know if he will be on that or if he has picked up a different ride?? Three guys on the road, away from their wives...what can go wrong?? :evil3:

Later.

Man, I'm jealous of me... :woot:

I can't wait...probably won't sleep well...sleep is over rated anyway...the third rider has asked us to extend the ride slightly to include Salmo to Nelson...which will avoid the ferry, but going over the Salmo-Creston pass will be nice too...and Nelson is a nice place to stop for lunch...

Hopefully the hotels will have internet so that I can at least post up some teaser pictures...

Later.

The New Denver road is torn to hell, so watch out. The Monashee pass still raises the hackles though. Construction through Golden (still? Again? -When is there not any..)

Galena / Shelterbay ferries - The are losing one ferry real soon (season volume trafffic subsiding). SO it won't be every 1/2 hr. Miss it, and your down for the hour.

Stop in at "CutRite meats and Deli" in Nakusp. My cousin owns it. Get a Hoss-n-egger for breakfast.

Have fun - post pics.

Richard
