I'm trying to get risers for my wives 650 V-Star Silverado and it's turn into quite a conversation to say the least! I have been riding for about 47 years and do all my maintenance and always have. Right now we have three bikes and trying to make hers a bit more comfortable. The problem is she just needs a little bit of help on the bars and trying to find out high we can go without changing the cables has turned into the (50) dollar question? The shop has quoted a price of anywhere from 150.00 to 250.00 and that seem a bit much just for a two the three inch risers and that's just for the parts!

Question: Have any of you Ladies had this problem and if so what kind of risers did you buy and did you have to change the cables?

I just put a set of 30 mm rise on my night hawk. They are 7/8 bars and came from highdesertmotorsports541 on ebay for $22. What you have been quoted seems about 2x higher than they should be through MOST sources. If you are trying to get more than 2 inches of rise maybe you should consider some different bars. just to get an idea look at jpcycles. Most risers I found in my search were very expensive and not nearly worth their price to me.

Thanks for the info and the web sight. I'm like you the cost of risers seem to be a bit ridiculous! On e-bay I've found a pair for about 35.00 but going to make sure they will fit before ordering. Thanks again Burly!

Can you just loosen the clamps and turn the bars slightly up?

Just make sure none of the cables are rubbing... I know a guy who put mini-apes on his Suzuki Intruder 1500 without putting on longer lines and said it was good. His hydraulic clutch line was rubbing on (what looks like) the tank on a sharp edge and ended up bursting on him while he was going down a set of twisties... Needless to say we also replaced the rubbing brake line, throttle lines, and choke line.
