I'd still wait to get the H1N1 vacine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zzy2UHwN9zs

We were told to get the H1N1 vacince once before.

The Canadian government apparently has approved the new H1N1 vacine for use, even though it only has been tried in 2000 test subjects so far and the testing hasn't been completed yet.

Thanks for the video link.

I know a few people who are getting a shot right away. I'm holding off.

My wife is doing a research paper for school. Apparently the regular flu shot is fine. It is just the first batch of H1N1 that isn't due to the same type of chemical inside this shot as the one back in the 70's that caused the brain damage mentioned in the video. This chemical is supposed to accelerate the effectiveness of this shot. in a matter of 14

Supposed to be a second batch of the H1N1 shot near end of December that is supposed to not contain this chemical whatever the name is I should ask her if I remember.

She also mentioned that the vacince is intially approved in Canada for pregnant women, and children 5 months and above. I don't understand this personally as if the shot is not good for 5 months or younger what would this shot do to a developing fetus?

As with anything do your own research into the subject and make your own decision. Our family is not getting the H1N1 shot.

My Daughter was down with the flu for a week. She had high fever for 3-4 days. She is feeling better now, but during that time, the doctors advised keeping her at home. The Alberta Heath Link says, nothing you can do. Wait it out. Was it H1N1? Who knows! Basically if you are experiencing respitory problems, severe dehydration, they dont want in the hospitals. I just keep thinking of the healthy boy in ontario, who was feeling better, then died the next day. Its scary.

Triumphgirl, I'm glad your daughter is doing better, yup all you can do is wait it out. Since your daughter had a fever for more than just a couple of days and being sick early on in the season, more than likely it was the H1N1 the regular flu will be kicking in real soon here.
It was sad about the boy, it really hits children (and some others) hard. I know a lot of parents don't want to vaccine there children these days (trend) but it also can be helpfu.

Thanks kindly. There are so many sick people around. But, like you said, the regular flu has yet to rear its ugly head. I have been fortunate so far. The day they set up vaccination clinics was two days too late for my daughter. But she is back in school and back to her preteen self.

I finally found the full 60 minute Interview. It was only allowed to air once in 1976 and was pulled for some reason after its airing.
