Didn't really wanna come up with poll-type categories (love em, hate em, and everything in between) for something so individual. I was just wondering what your wife/husband, girl/boyfriend, mate, partner, paramour, betrothed - whatever term you prefer - thinks of motorcycles/motorcycling?

My wife actually got me into bikes, since she learned to ride and had a motorcycle before I did, so I'm pretty lucky in the "spousal approval" sense.

Hehehe...I'm the one who owns the bike. He's the one who always asks to ride my bike. In fact, he tries to sucker me into it by preemptively maintaining the bike for me (as in, I set up the bike to wash it-he sneaks behind me with the hose in hand  ).

He really needs to get his own dadgum bike!

So, aside from that-yeah, no approval from either party necessary (except that it's my bike!)

Same here. She bought me a Royal Star Tour Deluxe so she could ride on the back. She got tired of pillion in about 6 months and bought herself a Suzuki GSF500 and, when she got tired of that, bought herself a BMW F800ST.

Then she bought me a Yamaha FJR1300.

Yeah - I think I'll keep her...

She owns two of the four bikes listed in my signature line below! :D

(If she posted on this forum she'd also surely point out that she gave me my first riding lesson.......)

My g/f isn't fond of motorcycles in general.

But she did help me add reflective tape to my leather suit & helmet. Although she does laugh when I put it on . . . sigh.

I still love her & hope to get her to ride with me, pillion or on her own. :)

I rode first; the Spouse Thingy realized I was having far too much fun without him, so he took the MSF. Now most of the time we ride together. He does grumble once in a while about why I couldn't find a cheaper hobby, but he loves it.

My wife's relationship with bikes consists of ignoring me as I do wheelies and other pathetic cries for attention in front of the window where she can see me. She just don't seem to care for my dirt bike shenanigans.

My wife's response to my wanting to get a bike (keep in mind that I am 63, she's 55):"you're a big boy, if you want to get a motorcycle go right ahead. Just don't expect me to ever get on it with you!"

I guess I'll have to admit that her response suits me just fine!
