Hi there fellow Yamah riders!
I started my long and distinguished riding career about 8 days ago at the not so tender age of 4(*harrumphh) years young...
February 1st, I sat on a bike for the first time in my life; Saturday & Sunday I attended the MSF Basic Riders' Course, and sat on a running motorbike for the first time in my life; Monday morning, my wife said no bike 'cos we can't afford it now; so I go to DMV to get my 'M' endorsement; Monday afternoon, she's on Cycle Trader looking, and found my new mistress (we'll get to her later ;-) ); Tuesday I've got a loan approved; Wednesday morning the check arrives, I'm buying gear and Insurance; Wednesday night/Thursday morning I'm awake at 0300, pacing w/heartburn cos Thursday 0900, I pick up the bike!!! I played hooky from work Thursday and Friday... Sorry Boss, I've got some kind of bug  .... Since then, I've put over 300 miles on her, and that was with nearly all of Sunday grounded for Softball practice with the kids...
Now, on to my mistress...
She's a 2007 V-Star Custom, bought 'used' with 8 miles on the clock. For $4k. I don't think it gets any better than that! I've already customized the bike - I added a set of chrome engine guards. Nearly forgot: There's a Paramedic Trauma Kit on the front ABCs, and heavy bleeding....sorry, just the 'Worst Case scenario' guy in me....I'll be using it on the next SUV driver that cuts me off
The previous owner (poor sod) attended the BRC, bought the bike, had a doctors appointment, and got grounded from riding because of health issues. He got to ride the bike a whole 6.8 miles from the dealer to his house, where it has been sitting for the last 9 or so months, getting cranked from time to time, with the battery sitting in a charger....
I really felt sorry for the guy, but every cloud has a silver lining, and I'm boycotting doctor visits (ya never know).

Sooo....I've now been riding for nearly four whole days, I'm still in my shrinkwrap, but the barcode across my rear is getting a tad tender :o
Maybe I'll take a day off? Mmmmm....probably not. I still have to master a right turn from a stop without stalling half the time...but I'm getting there...
Another 4 days and I'll have to take it in for the 600 mile break in service. Waah! No bike for a day or two...

Anyway, as soon as I figure out HOW to put a dang pic in a message, I'll post it...until then, you can see me and my baby in my personal gallery.

Me, I'm a 21+ year Army Medic who is 120 days out from retiring. As my eldest daughter put it last week, "Dad, is this your midlife crisis?" Smart aleck kid...she gets it from her mother....

Welcome and nice bike!

The 600 mile service is just an oil change and checking to make sure none of the bolts on your bike came loose. Pretty easy to do yourself.

As for imagines. Copy the image location www.myimage.com and put it between with no spaces.

you can quote this response to see how I added this pic

Thanks for the welcome. My understanding with the break in service is that there's also some adjustments / checks on top of the oil change.
I've done shopping around a couple of the Yama dealers in the area and I have already discovered a ~$80 difference in price, and a 24 hour difference in turnaround times...hmmm...the quicker and cheaper or the longer & more expensive....both reputable dealers.... :?
Re: Posting pics, how do you get a pic from your PC loaded? Do you have to upload first into an online area?

Yes, for uploading a pic, you have to upload to an online photo place. Then you can link it to here.

We look forward to seeing your pics.
