Is it better to start off on a dirt bike? I heard that its better to start off in the dirt as you get a better experience starting off this way.

I learnt on dirt I think it is the best way as when you first start out you dont have to worry about traffic.Just concentrate on learning how the bike operates so when it becomes time to play on the road everything is vary natural.

YES! it is better to learn on a dirtbike. You will learn more about bike control and what the bike will do in any given situation in one year of dirt riding than you will in 10 years on the road.

Get Thee An DirtBike!!!!
And learn how to ride it. You will fall down. That's O.K. Get back on and keep at it.

It's so much better, I'm thinking of getting back into the dirt, now that I'm on the road. You just can't push it on the road like you can in the dirt...too many cars crossing the yellow line, and generally acting ignorant of all traffic rules, and there's no track near here...couldn't afford a track day anyway. Sorry for the grouchy rant, I guess I just miss the dirt. :frusty:
