fortunately, that's not very common in our neck of woods.

One thing I learned is that on the bike, one must be ready to fast forgive and forget. In case like yours, after seeing that the guy is in a hurry, I'd wait for him to clear an intersection first.

My experience on the roads so far is that people for the most part don't mean harm to motorcyclist - they are just reckless, clueless and self indulged. Quite often, just a sign to back off would deter a tailgater because they actually, by that moment had no clue they were doing something wrong.

However, I will start carrying spark plugs for the people who come behind me on the ramp merging to major highway, and then pass me from behind before solid lines change into doted ones. That's the most critical moment when I'm trying to establish that it's safe to merge based on vehicles already on the highway and I don't need jerk from behind startling me as I just start merging. For the locals, that would be most ramps to Whitemud.

Cynwagon, from your first post, I think I met that guy.

About 15 or so years ago I was into camping at Nolin lake in Kentucky. I was driving my truck and minding my own business on a 2 lane road and come to a stop at a stop sign. This truck pulling an empty trailer goes around me and makes a right turn (from the left side).

My gratification was instant. About that time I saw the flashing blue lights go around me and chasing after that dumb bunny.
