I had Mantis's rear pegs/brackets off within 3 days of owning him. I really can't comprehend climbing on the back of someones motorcycle. If I look at a passenger I assume she hasn't thought to get her own bike yet and it will occur to her.

i keep trying to talk my wife into learning to ride, but she has no interest.

i just put on a sissy bar and more comfortable seat for her to ride pillion on my bike.

she really has her heart set on a bike with a sidecar, with me chauffering her and our Boston Terrier around.

are you puzzled by people with chauffers or those who ride the bus as well?

me, i love to drive...i can't stand to be a passenger in a car, let alone on a bike.

but some people like to sit and enjoy the scenery and not be worried about driving...

takes all kinds...

Every once in a while I truly enjoy being passenger on a big comfy bike.

I do not consider being a passenger in a car similar to being a passenger on a motorcycle. I also admit I have never been a passenger on a motorcycle and understand that it may be pleasant to some.

However, it seems unpleasant enough to me that I always wonder why people do it. I also wonder why people eat mayonnaise. Its something else I dislike and there is that moment to remember that everyone does not share my tastes.

I am, who wants to take the bus? :P

Really though, was it necessary to roll your eyes at someone expressing a curiousity? Sheesh.

Why would it even appear unpleasant?? You are doing the EXACT same thing without the controls, period. I take in the exact same scenary, feel and hear the exact same engine (which is freakin awesome btw), eat MORE bugs and have MORE wind in my face (softail pillion sits up higher that most) while yes I am ACHING to get behind the controls, sitting 2-up with my legs wrapped around my handsome stud of a husband (24+ years) enjoying every single moment just the same, well, it isn't UNpleasant at all, it is pretty awesome and I love every minute of it and frankly HATE to ever get off. :D

We can have our cake AND eat it too, right

It could easily be unpleasant because you feel like you have no measure of control over what is happening, and it is a much more involved method of travel than say...a car or a bus.

I dislike being a pillion on a jet ski for that very reason. I haven't been a pillion on a bike since I was around 5.

Yes, it's the control issue, I hate being a passenger on a jet ski because I hate to be tossed off since I can't swim... However, as the driver of said jet ski, things are different. It's quite similar on a bike for me unless I totally trust and know how the rider drives that bike.

Just that one small thing is a huge difference. Try telling that to people who get carsick or airsick "It's the same thing" ...no, it isn't.

Aside from not being able to see ahead very well (always looking to the side or around a big-headed helmet), the guy driving will not always ride like you would in regards to making moves on the street, passing, avoiding bumpy objects, throttle, etc. You know like when you let people borrow your car, they just don't drive it like you do.

I rode pillion on my husband's bike for mmm 2-3wks before I said I want my own. I wanted to actually see the road ahead, to see where we are going. And it wasn't as simple as buying a bike and hopping on, it took a while for things to get built.

I think lady pillions will always feel as though lady riders are giving them dirty looks. I think lady riders will always feel as though lady pillions are giving them dirty looks. Yeah Yeah, everybody's jealous of everybody else  I think everyone needs to just get over it all and enjoy where you're sitting.

Maybe it's just part of being women.
