The Bandit 1250S was the bike I wanted when I bought my MT-01...but I couldn't find one for a low enough price and now I'm kinda glad...I think this is a much nicer looking bike, and it has a much more modern gauge package with a gear indicator. To me, this is the ultimate in 'bang for your buck' sport touring...and with the new bags that more closely suite the style of the bike (old ones were basically the same Suzuki bags that are on the Vstrom...bleh), I like it a lot!!

I ride a Superduke so mine likely don't count either but I agree with HYPERR . Taking the retro semi-cool Bandit, shrink wrapping it in plastic and changing the name does not make a cool bike. It's likely a very functional bike, and it doesn't look bad but that on it's own does not make it cool.

On another note Mrs. High_Side sat on one as a potential touring bike to compliment her Monster. Although the seat height worked this bike is really top heavy compared to the competition (CBF1000). Perhaps a result of the retro design, but still a weak point.

So it's functional and is a decent bike but the name of the forum is cool wall - so therefore: uncool.

I think the line "Best bang for your buck" really applies highly to the 2012 Suzuki GSX1250FA Touring, as it did it's previous incarnation, the Bandit 1250S and 1250 as well as the 1200 and GSX1100E all the way back to the GS1000E it came from back in (1978-79?). I would easily debate this is the biggest cc (and best) motorcycle you can get for such little money. For that, you get a legendary engine known for it's torque and reliablility (the GS series of engines since 1976 have proven themselves time and time again in racing, street and modding), and a chassis that's decent, and handling that's good. But this is a bike that's all about it's engine (IMO) at an amazing value.

I've ridden the Bandit 1250S for a couple of weeks (Thanks Mashby) and it's a very linear powerband, there is little need to down shift at all and is eagar to go faster than the speed limits... the engine doesn't have a lot of "character" to it, it's just power.

In the end, I can't think of a better bike for the money (in it's cc size) with such a reliable and torquey engine and that alone gives it an: AWESOME vote from me.

I don't know enough about the ST class to pass out Awesomes or Fails when one comes up. So working within my two choices, here's what I see...

This thing weighs about what my Vulcan weighs, and for an ST with a liter+ motor and full fairing that's pretty impressive. The price also makes an impression, enough so that if I ever thought to venture into the ST experience this bike may be the one I'd do it on depending on it's carrying capacity and tank size.

Not a fan of the panniers though. Why is it all the side cases on these ST bikes look like the case my miter saw is in? I know they're going for 'rugged', but everything comes across looking 'cheap'. Like maybe you could just buy the most recent rollback tool box at WalMart, drill a couple holes in the back and mount it to your bike (at a fraction of the cost of hard bags!) Top case still looks like the fat kid on a diving board, there's no way to make those look cool anyway.

So, what I don't like about this bike could unbolt in a few minutes, but in doing so you wouldn't have much T left in your ST.

I'll still throw this a Cool. For the price, it looks like exceptional value.
