I came across this on facebook and wondered what the experienced of the forum faithful thought of a four wheeled motorcycle. (ATV for street use only)

Is there a market for it or just a fad?

i have no idea how it would do in Canada, but i'm not sure it'd fly here in the US. you can already drive 4-wheelers on public streets in most states so i don't see where this would be very ground-breaking at all. then again, it's all in how they market the product...just like most everything else.

I don't think ATV-type vehicles are legal on road in most of Canada. I know they are not in Alberta.

But I don't see the point of a street-only version anyways. Really, could anyone tell me the point? I can see all the drawbacks of both bikes and cages with none of the fun aspects of either.

But I'm pretty thick, so what am I missing here?

some might like it for motorcycle-like mileage while still having 4-wheeled stability. another way to look at it is most people who aren't already motorcycle riders are probably more familiar with quads so this would be an easier transition or more comfortable for them without the hassle of obtaining a motorcycle license. some people might think it's more car-like so it'd be more readily seen on the roads and therefore hold less inherent risk than a motorcycle.

i don't know, seems to me like you're stripping all the fun out of a quad and all the fun out of a motorcycle and combining them to make a completely non-fun vehicle but i've never ridden one so maybe it's a hoot and a half.

Same as I feel about the CanAm Spyder - worst of both worlds. Don't see the point myself.

I was told in the course if I were to pass my test on a scooter or 3 wheeler ( Trike & motorcycle with a side car included) that I'd have a restriction on my motorcycle license that stated I was only allowed to drive scooters (low speed restriction) or three wheelers but not a normal motorcycle. I would assume this would be the same if they were legalized this four wheeler for street use in Canada.

I think I'd be more inclined to buy this then a Trike. Although the URAL would get the win if I could mount one of these on the side :shooting2: car

In my eyes anything with 4 wheels is not a motorcycle, I don't care what they say. This is a glorified ATV with street tires. Nothing new here at all.

Well if we're talking technicalities, none of us has ever ridden a motorcycle in our lives. We've all ridden enginecycles. Internal combustion propulsion machines are called engines, and anything electrically driven is a motor.
To me anything that has three wheels is a trike, anything with two wheels is a bike, anything with four wheels unenclosed (including doors, windshield, etc) is a quad, and anything with four wheels and enclosed is a car. (And yes I'm including stuff like RAZRs and Rhinos in the car category. They might as well be.

Yes. This is not a motorcycle. Why call it that?

Just like the CanAm Spyder... It leaves me unexcited.
