What shop is this? The usual web sites I go to are about $90 for the front and 100 for the rear. I can still take the tires down to my local shop and have them install it and they still throw in free tubes and balancing and charge an extra $15 for spoke cleaning (I mean getting it shiny again not just rust removal). I dunno if it's because I've been going there ever since I started riding.

Oddly I no longer can find the Dunlop Qualifiers esp for my tire sizes. Looks like I'm better off with tires that contain "activated silica" which includes all the tires above (except the dunlops).


im confused. are you asking what shop charges $50 to mount??? Cause last time I bought tires total it was $280 for front and rear tires with mounting for dunlops. the rear tire was $145 and the front was $90. mounting was $50.

Whoops, its the tires that cost in the 110 - 190 price range and the shop that I take it to will throw in free tubes without tacking on any extra charges from what they normally charge for tire servicing.

Old thread I know but I am about to buy the Pirreli tire for $125 which is the price WITH shipping. still gonna cost $175 total with the stealer replacing the tire on the rim. Unless I want to drive an extra 20 miles to save $20 which I might just do.

The avons are $50 more and as thus I am not sure worth that much more. The D404's are actually $1 more than the pirreli's. The only other thing is the H speed rating (high speed I am assuming). will that matter?

yes I know I didnt buy them yet cause well I had to put the bike up for the winter and there is still a small amount of tread left in the middle lol. Gotta get it changed soon though. printed it out and will bring it to the stealer to see if he can "match it" price wise. if he can I will just pay the $80 for them to do the whole rear tire. yes they charge $80 for labor to remove the tire, mount and balance, then resinstall.

The H rated tire is actually alower speed rated tire the zr rating is what would be found on a modern sportbike (or just z) the H would be fine for that aplication. Though set of tire irons and a balancer are a good investment u can get a balancer for the home shop that does just fine and they pay for themself pretty quick at 40 bucks a tire. have a great day
