I'm just trying too get a feal for which tires everyone rides, your likes dislikes.

-eg-
-Type of Tire (brand, model)
-Type of bike (sport bike, Sport Touring, cruiser....)
-Type of riding ( commuting, aggressive riding, long distance...)
-Your review of the tire (likes, dislikes, how long it lasted)

Have a 1981 Honda CB400T
Style of riding, casual to agressive fun.

Cheng Shin Marquis tire on rear, Dunlop Roadmaster TT100 on front.
Rides great
The Dunlop provides great grip and excellent handeling.
I don't even know if Cheng Shin makes tires anymore. It's a really old tire but still holds up perfectly, great tread life, handles just fine.
That's all I know, never ridden another streetbike before, besides on the back of my dad's old goldwing.
Hope it helps. :D

My Vulcan 500 cruiser has seen many pairs of tires.

The OEM Bridgestone weren't so great as they lost traction in the wet after 4000 miles. Having the rear tire slip while taking off from a stop in the wet is not good.

Then I went for Dunlop D404's and they were great for the money and lasted a good while too. Lasted for 12,000 miles and used for long distance touring and inner city commuting.

Right now my bike is fitted with Dunlop F11 Qualifiers for the front and K627 for the rear and both have pretty aggressive tread patterns which suit it well for wet and dirt roads. So far it has 10,000 mile and counting so it may be a while. Again mostly used for long distance travel and inner city commuting (heavy braking involved so it's a miracle the tires lasted so long).

I'll soon be getting Continental Milestone tires and see if their silica tread compound is really sticky and long lasting as the reviewers have said.

My Motorcycle: dream bike (really, it's in my dreams)
My bridgestone BT45's have never once lost traction on me.
I ride a standard bike moderately aggressive.
Feel great in the rain.
Not sure how many miles I got on them so can't comment on longevity.

I've got Michelin Pilot Powers on the Ducati SS1000DS. I really like the tire! Once it is warmed up, the only way it will slip is if there is sand/gravel in the road. You can ride these things to the very edge (in controlled situations, of course) and have complete confidence in the tire.

So, that makes it a sport bike, but I've done some sport touring on it.

As far as wear goes, I don't ride too aggressively on public roads, so I've only seen about 10% wear after about 3000 miles. This is with probably 20% commuting, 40% long distance (highway miles) and 40% aggressive (using more than just the center of the tire).

I've known people to only get 4000miles out of a rear, but they must be riding extremely aggressively on very poor roads. I've not seen any substantial wear, and I've done about 800 miles of aggressive twisties (combining the mileage from all my group rides and personal lean tests :) ). I expect to get 7-10k miles out of my tires.... unless the wear gets progressively worse.

I haven't ridden in the rain too much, but the amount I have has been fine. No slips... but I was riding very conservatively.

I highly recommend the Pilot Powers to sport riders. I've not personally tested a better tire (my last set of tires on the VFR were Metzler M1s, which have the same grip as the M3s, they just wear faster in the center).

OEM Bridgstone Battlax BT020's. Decent set of tires, impressed at the grip they do offer as a sport touring tire. Great in the rain. Though I do plan on getting Michelon Pilot Roads as I've heard good things. The thing is, I need a tire capable of blasting down a back road, then riding the superslab for 100 miles. I do too much highway and distance riding to constitute something like the Pilot Powers or the Corsa 3's.

My roomate's YZF has Bridgstone BT014's, the seem like a decent tire but I've never ridden his bike in the wet or to the limit often enough. Though got close once and they seem like a good tire.

My GL500 has Bridgestone S-11s front and back. Nice tire, good grip, and decent in the rain. I only have about 3k on them so I can't say how long they will last. I would buy another set for any mid-weight bike needing bias-ply tires. I mostly commute, with some recreational riding thrown in, on this bike.

My Kawasaki Concours, on the other hand, has Dunlops on it. A Sportmax D205F on the front and an Elite II 491 on the back. The front tire was installed by the PO right before I bought the bike. I took the bike to Jim at Cyclops in Merriam KS to match up a rear tire and got the Elite II on his recommendation. Great grip in all kinds of weather. This is my main bike, so I ride it most of the time and exclusively for long distance.

My other three bikes are all projects and have old hard-a$$ed tires only good for rolling around on.

I've got a pair of Dunlop D404s sitting in my living room right now waiting to get mounted on my Virago.

Hopefully this will be a nice upgrade from the Kendas on there right now.

I'm not going to lie. Going from Cheng Shin on my Vision to Metzler tires was a big step DOWN. They may not last long but those Cheng Shins could grip in wet weather like it was 100 degrees out and a perfect road.

The oem tires on my Vstrom suck. They slide out on me at moderate angles ( I have like 2 inch chicken strips) and I swear any wind feels like someone's kicking my legs out from under me. I will never ride these in the rain... so I'm 700 miles into these tires and already looking for new ones

However, the best tire depends alot on your bike and riding style. Verm doesn't like the battleaxes but the Vstrom forums thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread... or the quicky mart
