Learning on a Honda Shadow (600) Belongs to a friend. Been thinking about a Buell Blast 2007 for myself. I little lighter, a little better on gas.

My question is, what do you all think about belt drive? The bike is a single cycle 500cc. Would I be able to keep up with my friend on the road? Would not want to show up two days later.

The Blast is a little bike, but it's pretty cool looking and fairly distinct.

You shouldn't have any trouble keeping up with it. It'll do 0-60 in just over 7 seconds, compared to about 6 for that Shadow.

Like the Honda 600, but think it is more than I need. Like the Buell Blast for the size, weight, mpg, and It is the first bike I have ever seen in white that I think looks good in that color.

I think it's a good bike. I've heard some negative things involving oil leaks and problems with pre-2003 models though- make sure you look into that.

Warning :spam: ahead…. :roll2:

First of all..... :welcome:

Second, Have you checked out the Beginner's Guide? There are also stickies and the Learn To Ride A Motorcycle page which is downloadable in PDF format (Created and maintained by Dragonhawk).

Third, I also recommend an MSF or other reputable safety course and reviewing your state’s (province’s/territory’s) DMV or DOT website for licensing information, guidelines and FAQ.

Fourth, don't forget one of the most important things to ask about. Your helmet. Be sure to read the Helmet Fit Guideline by Lion_Lady

Fifth, Good Luck, Have Fun and Stay Safe Out There! I hope you enjoy this site! :tmwsign:

(I knew yall were just waiting for this to appear! )

Is anyone have a opinion or first hand knowledge of the drive dive system on the Buell Blast? Just wondering if buying it would be a mistake.

I want to thank everyone for the help so far It has been great, alot of good info to read.

It's a harley belt system, I think they have been proven to be quality.

Is the blast what you want? Can you afford it? Have you considered other bikes and still want the blast? If it's yes to all, then it seems like a good decision. Are you buying new or used?

Have a friend who bought a Honda shadow, I have been learning on. Think I would like something a little lighter. With better gas mileage. Would do it on payments (I think). I want to buy new and have looked at some other bikes, can not say I have looked at all of them. My main interest is a good looking bike, lighter than the Shadow, a little better mpg. But I also will be riding with my friend, and would like to be able to comfortable be able to keep up....that is my main concern.

Is there any other bikes that you would suggest I check out before buying?
