Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a used Marauder for $2400, and it has about 22,000 miles on it. What kind of life do these engines have? The rest of the bike is in great shape - new tires, clutch, engine guard, highway pegs, engine guard, etc.

Does this sound like a good deal? Could I get another 20k miles on it?

Thanks

Umm, honestly 2400 sounds like a little much for a 2000 with 20K miles on it. You'd definitely be able to get another 20K out of it if you did your maintenance and such, but I'd offer 1800 or walk unless it was in immaculate shape.

Yeah, just a bit high. If it was in immaculate condition then that may be a fair price if you live in a major metropolitan area. Otherwise, try to get it down near $2000.

As to the motor, 20k is less than I put on a bike in a year. I have an 03 maurader outside with 30k on the clock that performs quite well. Considering that's ~6k a year, it's not bad. Yours would be ~2k a year which is just enough to keep the rubber parts from deteriorating but not nearly enough for concern. See if the owner has maintenance receipts etc for it.

Thanks, guys. That's the kind of input I needed. Yes, I live in DC, so prices tend a little higher, but I'm going to keep looking around.

Cheers!

I'm in Northern Virginia so I understand that. Don't worry, more and more bikes are added to craigslist every day. And honestly, I'm the only one in the area stupid enough to still be riding
